    Salesforce Events Reminder ( For Birthday, Work/ Marriage/ Customer Anniversary )

    Salesforce Events Reminder: This application helps the user to manage the existing events by sending wishes automatically to the concerned person. It includes birthday and marriage anniversary of Users(Employees) and Contacts, work anniversary of the Users Employees) and customer anniversary of the contacts or any other Custom events created by you.

    How to Configure Salesforce Events Reminder

    Configuration at Salesforce Classic view

    After Installation, go to Setup | Home | Home Page Layouts and click on “Edit” of the Default Theme.

    Check mark ‘Events Reminder‘ then click Next and further customize the position of the App , click Save. Further, go to Home tab.

    In the Sidebar section, Click on ‘Gear icon’ to get the general configuration page of Events Reminder as shown below in the snapshot.

    The updated version of Events Reminder has come with two new features. One is multilingual support and the other is one can now choose contact images from custom fields to be displayed in the list of Events.

    Image Field (Contact): A new field has been added to make sure that one can pick contact images not only from Social Media Account but also from any Custom fields like formula or text field.

    Select Language option: One can manually select the Languages as shown below:

    In order to get the list of languages available in the settings page, you just need to enable Translation  Workbench in your Org and activate the list of languages you want to enable in your Org.

    You can follow the steps below to enable Translation workbench.

    Step 1: In the Quick Find Search Box, type Translation and then click on ‘Translation Settings’ as shown below:

    Now click on Edit to activate the Languages you want to use in your Org.

    Now, put a check mark on Active and then click on Save.

    To enable the same settings for Language in Lightning version, you just need to create a new Remote Site Settings as per the instructions shown below:

    Step 1: In the Quick find search Box, type Remote and then click on ‘Remote Site Settings’ as shown below:

    Step 2: Once you click on ‘New Remote Site’ button, enter the information as shown below:

    Once you create the Remote Site Settings for Lightning, you will be able to select the Language in the Lightning version as well.

    Now, let’s get back to the HomePage.  In the Sidebar section, Click on ‘Gear icon’ to get the general configuration page of Events Reminder.

    Update the details according to the parameters mentioned below in the snapshot and click Save.

     

    • In view, you can select All Contacts or My Contacts.
    • One can show events of Users, Contacts and both Users and Contacts.
    • One can also create a custom field indicating the Account Status and set the status for Active, Inactive Accounts or for all Accounts.
    • One can set the number of days for the upcoming Events.
    • There is a pick field section that contains Birthday Field for Contacts where you can select even a custom field if you have created for Birthday of Users and Contacts and you can also select the Marriage anniversary field for users and contact.
    • The latest version of our application has come with an exciting feature of creating a custom events and send email notifications accordingly by picking data from custom fields as well.
    • We have also provided with an option to turn off the email notifications for events.
    • If you don’t want email notifications of events, keep it unchecked and click on Save as shown below.

    • You can enable the email notifications by putting a check mark over Enable Automatic Email checkbox and you can also select the email template according to the events.
    • There are two checkboxes one for send mail CC and other is send mail BCC. You can enable these checkboxes in case you want them to be notified as well regarding the events. (This is optional.)
    • Under Automatic Cron Settings, you can also set the preferred time to schedule email execution of events.
    • Org Wide Email Address: In case you want emails to be sent from a specific email address, you can configure the same email address in your Org wide email address and enter in Org Wide Email address field as shown above in the screenshot.
    • To set Organization Wide Email address, go to Setup|Email Administration|Organization-Wide Addresses. Click Add to add the email address as shown below:

    Once you add the email address in the Org Wide Email address, you get a verification link on the same email address which you need to click in order to get verified.

    Note: Org wide Email address is completely optional, you can leave this blank in the settings page of our as per your choice. It’s all upto you.

     

    Manage Your Custom Events

    Step 1: Click on ‘Manage Events‘ on the Configuration Settings page of Events Reminder.
    Now, manage your Custom Events as per the screenshot below:

    Step 2: Select an Event Title as per your choice.

    Step 3: Select the Object for which you wish to create the Event and send email notifications for events.

    Step 4: Under ‘Fields Selection’ area, select the Standard/Custom fields of Date data type from which you want to pick the data for your custom event.

    Step 5: Select the Email field as per your choice from which you want to pick data for email notifications.

    Step 6: Select a suitable field for Photo field by if you want to pick contact/Users images from a specific custom field.

    Note the contact images will appear as per the field selected here, otherwise it will pick images from syced images from your Social media account.

    Step 7: Annual Event: Enable this checkbox if you are creating a custom event which is an annual event so that the email notifications for events get sent everyday after completion of 1-year cycle.

    Note: If you keep it unchecked, the event notifications would be sent only on the specific date on which the event would occur.

    Step 8: Finally, select the email Template based on the event you have created. You can select ‘None’ if you don’t want to send the email notifications and you only want to show this custom Event appearing in the Application panel.

    Configuration at Salesforce Lightning view

    To use the application at Lightning end, it is required to register the domain first. Kindly go through the article: How to register your Domain in Salesforce.

    Once you get registered with your Domain, please make sure that custom tabs related to Events reminder should be default on.

    Follow the steps to verify or update it : From Setup | Manage Users | Profiles | Select Profile and click Edit to verify as mentioned in screenshot below.

    Once done, click Save and  Switch to Lightning Experience  and proceed with configuration at Lightning view shown below.

    Click on the Gear icon and select Edit Page as shown below in the snapshot.

    At the bottom left, under Custom- Managed section, drag and drop ” Events Reminder Tab “as per your desired location and click Save.

    Further to activate the application, click Activate then you will get prompt for Activation successful. Now, click Back to verify the changes made in the Home page layout.

    SalesforceMobile App Settings

    Go to Setup | Mobile Administration | Salesforce1 Navigation . Add Events Reminder from the available section to Selected list and click Save.

    This app is cool. I’ve installed it in my sandbox and it’s pretty easy to configure. thank you! One question, how can I limit it to only show contacts/users from my organization. Meaning, we have thousands of accounts, we only want to display birthdays of our staff.
