User Guide for Odoo POS Scan Product By Lot/Serial Number

INTRODUCTION

Track products efficiently with Odoo POS Scan Product By Lot/ Serial Number.

Are you still using barcodes for manual tracking and scanning products in Odoo POS? Now you can conveniently scan/track the products with lot/serial numbers in Odoo POS via Odoo POS Scan Product By lot/serial number module.

By default, a POS user has to scan the barcode to add products to the cart. This module reduces the dependency on barcodes for making a product entry in the POS. The module simply allows the POS user to use the Lot/Serial Number to Scan Products in Odoo POS and add the products to the cart in the running POS session.

Odoo POS Scan Product By Lot/Serial Number makes the entire process of dealing with Lot/Serial Numbers easy and manageable for an Odoo POS user. This module works perfectly in an offline mode as well!

When the POS user scans the products, a pop-up screen shows the lot number(s) associated with it. The user can select the lot/serial number or manually enter a new one to add the product to the POS cart.

FEATURES

1. The module allows the Odoo user to scan and add the products to the Odoo POS cart/order using the Lot/Serial numbers of the products.
2. The POS user can scan the lot/serial number using a barcode scanner.
3. When the POS user scans the lot/serial number, it automatically assigns the respective lot/serial number in the Odoo database.
4. This module reduces the effort of assigning a unique barcode number in order to add that product through the barcode scanner.
5. Lot numbers of products are automatically updated whenever a product is validated, added, or removed from an order.
6. If a POS user manually enters the lot/serial number, they will get responsive suggestions to select the lot/serial number.
7. When a user assigns/enters wrong or duplicate lot/serial numbers, the system will warm them by highlighting the box with red color.

INSTALLATION

1. Once you purchase the App from Webkul store, you will receive the link to download the zip file of the module.
2. Extract the file on your system after the download finishes. You will be able to see a folder named- ‘pos_product_by_lot_number.’
3. Copy and paste this folder inside your Odoo Add-Ons path.
4. Now, open the Odoo App and click on the Settings menu. Here, click on Activate the Developer Mode.
5. Then, open the Apps menu and click on ‘Update Modules List.’
6. In the search bar, remove all the filters and search ‘pos_product_by_lot_number.’
7. You will be able to see the module in the search result. Click on ‘Install’ to install it.

WORKFLOW CONFIGURATION

1.  Firstly, log in to your Odoo backend and ‘Activate the Developer Mode.’

2. Next, navigate to ‘Point of Sale> Products> Products’ and open any product.

3. Go to the ‘Inventory’ tab, locate the ‘Traceability’ section and choose the ‘By Unique Serial Number’ option. On selection, a ‘Lot/Serial Number’ option is added to the product menu. After that, click the ‘Save’ button.

4. Next, click on the ‘Update Quantity‘ button. 

5. Now, click the ‘Create’ button and add the ‘Lot/Serial Number and Counted Quantity’. Also, make sure to add both of them.   

6. On entering the lot/serial number, a pop will appear on the screen, confirming to create the lot/serial number. 

7. After saving the serial numbers and quantity, click the ‘Apply’ button to update the quantity(s).

8. Once done, go to the product page and open ‘Lot/Serial Number.’

9. On this page, view all the created lot/serial numbers. Moreover, you can create a new lot/serial number by the ‘Create’ button.

10. On opening any page, you can view the details, especially the quantity of the product in that lot/serial number.

11. In the same way, you can also create the Lot Number by choosing the ‘By Lot’ option in the ‘Traceability’ section of the ‘Inventory’ tab.

12. Further, update the product quantity by ‘Update Quantity> Create> Entering Lot/Serial Number & Counted Quantity> Save,’ after that, click ‘Apply’ to update the quantity.

13. In the POS, enter the lot/serial number in the ‘Barcode Scanner’ and click ‘Scan’ to enter the product in the POS.

14. In case a product with the same serial number already exists, the POS will show a popup telling you that you can only add a product with a serial number.

15. Moreover, when you click a product, a popup will open asking you to enter the lot/serial number. It will also show all the existing lot/serial numbers you can add to the POS.

16. On adding any random lot/serial number, a popup will appear on the screen telling you of the ‘Unknown Barcode.’

17. When you try to add products more than the allotted in a lot/serial number, the system will display an ‘Out Of Quantity’ popup.

18. If the lot/serial number does not exist, the system will warn you regarding the same. Moreover, you can create the entered lot/serial number by choosing the ‘Yes’ option from the dropdown next to ‘Do you want to continue with the same?’

19. Once done, the POS will show all the products with their lot/serial number.
