Complete User Guide of Odoo SKU Generator

INTRODUCTION

Generate the SKU(Internal Reference Code) in Odoo!! It’s important to allot a unique code to each and every product present on the website to avoid mismanagement. Now, this is possible by Odoo SKU Generator.

SKU: A stock-keeping unit (SKU) is a scannable barcode, most often seen printed on product labels in a retail store. The label allows vendors to automatically track the movement of inventory. The SKU is composed of an alphanumeric combination of eight-or-so characters.

About the App: Odoo SKU Generator module mainly generates the SKU (Internal Reference Code) for your website products. These codes are then allotted to each and every product available on the website.

The codes enable you to differentiate between products of the same shape, size, and quantity in terms of their packaging date, expiry date, price, quantity, sold or not, etc.

FEATURES

INSTALLATION

1. Once you have purchased the module from our Webkul store, you will receive a link to download the zip file of the module.
2. Extract the file from your system after the download finishes. You will be able to see a folder named- ‘sku_generator’.
3. Copy and paste this folder inside your Odoo Add-Ons path.
4. Now, open the Odoo and click on the Settings menu. Here, click on Activate the Developer Mode. You can activate the developer mode by typing ‘debug’ after ‘web?’ in the URL as well.
5. Now, open the Apps menu and click on ‘Update Modules List’.
6. In the search bar, remove all the filters and search ‘sku_generator’.
7. You will be able to see the module in the search result. Click on ‘Install’ to install it.

WORKFLOW

1. Once the installation is completed, visit the ‘Settings‘ App from the backend and under the Sales tab, enabling the automatic generation of SKU as shown.

2. After that, visit the Sales App from the backend and follow the path Configuration>>SKU Generator.

3. Here, you can see the list of all the SKU Generators as shown. Click on the ‘Create’ Button.

4. Enter the name and other details. Finally, Click on Update SKU.

5. After that, it will ask whether to override all the SKUs? Click on the ‘Yes‘ Button.

6. Now, follow the path Product>>Product Variants>>Select the product.
7. Click on Action Button and select ‘Update Product SKU’.

8. It will again ask for confirmation as asked above.
9. Like this, you will be able to generate product SKU of your online store products.
