WordPress Latest Tweet plugin is an awesome plugin which enables the user to display the latest tweets from his Twitter account to his website. All the tweets for the configured account will be shown on the website and the user can also enable the tweet window on any page and can set the appearance of the widget accordingly.

Note: To use the plugin the user has to create an app on twitter https://apps.twitter.com/ to get the keys and access tokens which will be used to configure the plugin.

Installation

The user will get a zip file which he has to upload in the “Add New” menu option in the WordPress admin panel. For this login to WordPress Admin Panel and Under the Dashboard hover your mouse over the “Plugins” menu option which brings out a Sub-Menu and then select the “Add New” option.

After this, you will see an option on the top of your page that is “Upload Plugin”, click the option to upload the zip file.

After clicking on the “Upload Plugin” option, below that you will see a button “Choose File” click on the button to browse for the zip file as per the snapshot below.

After browsing the file, click the “Install Now” button to install the plugin as per the snapshot.

Now when the plugin is installed correctly, you will see the success message and an option to activate the plugin. Click on “Activate Plugin” to activate the installed plugin.

After activating the plugin the user will have to create an app on twitter in order to configure his twitter account with the plugin so that the latest tweets from the user twitter account can be displayed on the website.

Creating App on Twitter

The user has to create an app on Twitter from his account to configure it with the plugin so that the latest tweet from the user Twitter account will be shown on the website accordingly. To create the app the user will have to navigate to https://apps.twitter.com/ and then click on the Create New App button to create the app.

After clicking on the Create New App button the user will be redirected to the create application page where he has to enter the application details and then click on Create your Twitter application button to create the application.

After creating the application the user will get the Consumer Key (API Key), Consumer Secret (API Secret), Access Token, and Access Token Secret which he will need to configure with the plugin to receive the latest tweet from his account to his website.

Admin Configuration

After creating the app the user will now configure the access tokens and API keys with the plugin and also configure the basic settings of the plugin.

Display Settings:

Width of Module: Enter the width of the module where your tweets will be shown.

Height of Module: Enter the height of the module for the tweets to be shown accordingly.

Number of Tweets: Select how many tweets you want to show on your module at a time.

Twitter Icon: Select the type of icon for your tweets

Show Upper Header:  Select Yes to show upper header or No to disable the upper header.

Show Top Bar Image: Select Yes to show top bar image or No to disable the top bar image.

Top Bar Color: Enter the color for the top bar.

Class Suffix: Enter a suffix which will be added at the end of a comment/tweet

Configuration Settings:

Module Title: Enter the title which you want to show on your tweets module.

Twitter Username: Enter your twitter username which you use to tweet comments on twitter.

Consumer Key: Copy the consumer key which you get while creating the app and paste it here.

Consumer Secret: Copy the consumer key which you get while creating the app and paste it here.

Access Token: Copy the consumer key which you get while creating the app and paste it here.

Access Token Secret: Copy the Access Token Secret which you get while creating the app and paste it here.

Widget Setting

After configuring the plugin the user will now set the appearance of the latest tweet widget on his website accordingly. The user will navigate to Appearance > Widgets and then drag the widget as per your preference to make it appear on your website accordingly.

After setting up the widget position, the user will configure all the setting in the widget and then save the widget to display the tweets on the website accordingly.

After configuring the widget the user can now see all the tweets from his account displayed on his website accordingly.
