    Quick Product Edit for Magento 2

    Introduction

    Quick Product Edit extension for Magento 2 (Adobe Commerce) will allow the admin to edit the product from the product page. This will enable the store owner to save a lot of time and allow quicker catalog management.

    The edit button will appear if the admin uses the same browser for the backend admin panel (with active session) and the Product View page.

    Also, the admin can make use of the Magento 2 Product Revision History Extension to check the product edit history from the admin backend panel. 

    Important Notes:

    • The edit button will ONLY be visible on the PRODUCT VIEW PAGE.
    • The EDIT button will NOT be visible on any other page on the storefront.
    • The admin MUST First log in to the Backend Admin Panel and use the same browser (with Active Session) and only then the Edit button will appear on the product view page.
    • The admin MUST STAY LOGGED IN to the Admin Panel. If the admin user log out, EDIT button will not appear.

    Install Extension from Webkul Store

    #1 Download Module

    Firstly, you need to log in to Webkul Store, go to My Account>My Purchased Products section, verify and then download and extract the contents of this zip folder on the system.

    #2 Upload Folder

    Once the module zip is extracted, follow path src>app and then copy the app folder into the Magento 2 root directory on the server as shown below:

    #3 Run Commands

    After uploading the module folder, you need to run the following commands in the Magento 2 root directory:

    • php bin/magento setup:upgrade
    • php bin/magento setup:di:compile
    • php bin/magento setup:static-content:deploy
    • php bin/magento indexer:reindex
    • php bin/magento cache:flush

    Install Extension from Magento Marketplace

    If you have purchased this extension from the Magento Marketplace then please follow the below process or visit this link.

    #1 Get Access Keys

    You need to get access keys, navigate to My Profile in Magento Marketplace, then choose Access Keys in the My Products section.

    Go to Magento 2 and then you need to copy both the Access Keys – Public Key and Private Key. These access keys will be needed in the next steps for authentication.

    If access keys are not created earlier, click Create A New Access Key, enter any name and click OK.

    #2 Update composer.json File

    To know the component name and version number, go to your Magento Marketplace account section, My Profile>My Purchases, then find this extension to view the details. Please note – Below is an example image, every extension will have its unique component name and version.

    After that, navigate to your Magento project directory and update your composer.json file in the following format.

    composer require <component-name>:<version>

    For example, to install version 5.0.3 of this extension you need to run the following command:

    composer require webkul/module-quickproductedit:5.0.3

    #3 Enter Access Keys

    Now you will need to enter the Access Keys that you obtained as explained in the first step #1 Get Access Keys. Wait for Composer to finish updating your project dependencies and make sure there aren’t any errors.

    #4 Run Command

    You need to run the following commands:

    • php bin/magento setup:upgrade
    • php bin/magento setup:di:compile
    • php bin/magento setup:static-content:deploy
    • php bin/magento indexer:reindex
    • php bin/magento cache:flush
     

    Language Translation

    For translating the module language, navigate through src/app/code/Webkul/QuickProductEdit/i18n and edit the en_US.csv file. Thereafter, rename the CSV as “en_SA.csv” and translate all right side content after the comma in the Arabic language. After editing the CSV, save it.

    Then upload it to the path src/app/code/Webkul/QuickProductEdit/i18n where the Magento2 is installed on the server. The module gets translated into the Arabic Language. It supports both RTL and LTR languages.

    Log in to Admin Panel

    On successfully installing the module, the admin has to log in first. The admin MUST Stay Logged In at the Admin Panel in the same browser. If the admin gets logged out, he needs to log in again to be able to see the Edit button on the product view page.

    The admin can set the configurations for the Quick Product Edit for Magento 2 by navigating through Stores > Configuration > Quick Product Edit. Under the tab, an Enable Quick Product Edit option is present.

    Admin can set the Enabled field as ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ to enable or disable the extension as shown in the image below.

    The admin has to log in from the admin panel in the same browser. The admin MUST STAY LOGGED-IN in order to use EDIT functionality from the product page. If the admin logs out, he MUST LOG IN again to see the Edit button on the product view page.

    The module allows you to edit any product details from the product page in a quicker and more convenient manner. Make sure the product page open in the same browser to use edit functionality.

    By clicking on the Edit, you can edit the following details as per the below image:

    Then click on Save.

    List of all that can be updated via the product page is Product Category, Product Name, Price, Description, Short Description, Quantity, SKU, Special Price, Special Price From, Special Price To, Stock, Stock Availability, Visibility, Tax Class, Weight, URL Key, Meta Title, Meta Keywords, Meta Description.

    In the description, you can use these options as per the above image, bold, italic, underline, points, bullets, interlinking, special character, and add image.

    Inline Product Edit

    Moreover, the admin can edit directly on the product with a click on the InlineEdit. The admin can edit the details of the product, the name of the product, the price, and the SKU.

    Note – The edit button will be visible on the PRODUCT VIEW PAGE only. The EDIT button will NOT be visible on any other page on the storefront. It will NOT appear on the category page, homepage, CMS page, etc.
