PrestaShop Set Minimum and Maximum Order Value {User Guide}

Increase average order value of your PrestaShop store by setting order amount range (minimum and maximum) with PrestaShop Set Minimum and Maximum Order Value.

The module facilitates you to set up minimum and maximum order value based on various conditions including customer groups, categories, suppliers, and countries.

The shoppers whose order value is higher than minimum order value and lower than maximum order value can continue the checkout process.

Two range types available in the module to set minimum and maximum order value. One is ‘cart amount wise’ and other is ‘rule wise’.

‘Cart amount wise’ range type allows the admin to set order value for customer groups.

Whereas rule wise range type lets admin set minimum and maximum order value by categories, suppliers, countries, and customer groups.

An alert message is displayed to the customers who do not meet the required criteria and try to checkout.

How to Install PrestaShop Set Minimum and Maximum Order Value

  • Firstly, go to the module manager in the back office and click on ‘upload a module’.
  • After that, drag and drop the module file or select the file from the system.
  • In this way, the module installation will be successful.

After the successful installation of the module, few new tabs get available in the back office. From these tabs, the admin can set the minimum and maximum order value based on different conditions.

Global Configuration

Under Global Configuration, the admin can select the ‘range type’ according to which minimum and maximum order value functionality will work on front end.

There are two range types in the module.

  1. Rule Wise
  2. Cart Amount Wise

Range Type – Cart Amount Wise

This range type allows the admin to set minimum and maximum order value for customer groups of the store.

It means the shopping cart amount must be in the range specified by admin for placing orders.

On selecting ‘cart amount wise’ following options appears on the configuration page.

Minimum and Maximum Price:

Customers need to add the products to the shopping whose value lies in the range specified by admin in these fields.

Customer Group

Here, the admin needs to select the groups whose members can place the orders if they add the products the shopping cart whose value lie in the specified range (minimum and maximum).

As per configuration, the customers from selected group needs to add the products of the specified price range to place order.

If the cart total is less than minimum or more than maximum amount, then a warning message will display on the shopping cart page as shown below.

Include tax, discount, shipping:

If enabled, then product tax, product discount, and shipping charges will be considered to evaluate cart amount for placing an order.

Suppose the admin has set minimum and maximum price as $100 and $500.

In the above screenshot, we can see that product discount, tax, and shipping charges have been applied to the order.

Suppose the admin has disabled the inclusion of tax to the cart amount.

Now the tax amount i.e 5.88 will not be considered in the cart amount. The minimum cart amount required to place an order is $100.

With the exclusion of product tax, the cart amount is now less than minimum amount required for placing an order.

Range Rules

The admin can add range rules to restrict orders minimum and maximum values based on:

  • Categories
  • Supplier
  • Country
  • Group

Click on ‘Add new’ button to add a new range rule.

On clicking the button, a form appears on the page with the following options:

  1. Range rule name: Specify the range rule name here.
  2. Minimum and Maximum Price: Customer needs to add the products whose value lies in the range specified by the admin in these fields to place an order.
  3. Included tax: If enabled, then the price of the products (added by customers to the cart) will be inclusive of taxes.
  4. Status: Enable or disable the range rule.
  5. Categories: Here the admin can select the categories on whose products range rule will be applicable.
  6. Supplier: Range rule will be applicable on the products that belongs to the suppliers selected by the admin in this field.
  7. Country: Range rule will be applicable on the customers of selected countries.
  8. Groups: Select the groups whose members can place order if meet the minimum and maximum order amount criteria.

Here the admin can choose ‘OR’ or ‘AND’.

If selected ‘OR’, then the range rule will work if any of the condition i.e. categories, supplier, country, or group is met.

If selected ‘AND’, then all the conditions should met for the range rule to work.

Once added, the admin can view it under range rules tab.

If selected ‘OR’ as applied condition

The customer can place an order on store if he add products whose value lies in the specified range (minimum and maximum) and meet one of the condition.

In the above screenshot, it can be seen that the customer can continue checkout process as the order amount is in the specified range and customer is from United States.

If the order amount exceeds the range, then a message will display on the shopping cart as shown in the below image.

If selected ‘AND’ as applied condition

The customer can place an order if the order amount is in the specified range and all of the conditions are met.

In the above image, it can be seen that the user belonging to ‘Customer’ group and from country ‘United States’ has added products whose value lies in the specified range.
