User Guide of Prestashop Product Barcode Label & Order Label

Prestashop Product Barcode Label & Order Label allows you to create and print product barcode labels using product codes. You can add these product codes to the product from the backend.

These are unique codes that help you to identify a product on your shop. The barcode labels help you to identify, track the movement of product around the warehouse/shop.

These labels are also machine-readable, making the work much easier for merchants. The barcodes make entry to the computer easy & remove the necessity of adding the details manually.

The module includes a visual label designer for products, combinations, and orders, native printing to thermal and label printers, multiple delivery methods, and template management.

Note: PrestaShop Product Barcode Label & Order Label module is compatible with the multi-store feature of PrestaShop.

Now, let’s proceed further in the blog to know more about the workflow of the module.

• Design and print product barcode labels using product codes (ISBN, UPC, MPN, Product Reference, EAN-13/JAN).
• Print barcode labels of products as well as combinations.
• Print barcode labels of products from Stock tab under Catalog.
• Option to print multiple barcodes in a single row is available.
• Set the number of barcodes you want to print for a product or combination.
• Also, customize the size/dimension of barcode to print on the page.
• Select the product details (product name, price, reference) that you want to print above and below the barcodes.
• Use a CSV file to print multiple barcodes in one attempt.
• Visual label template designer for Product, Combination, and Order labels (drag-and-drop text, barcode, image elements, sizing, positioning, fonts, colors).
• Print order labels from the Orders grid (bulk action) and from the single order page.
• Native printer support – print directly to thermal/label printers with ESC/POS, ZPL, or EPL command languages.
• Multiple delivery methods: Browser print dialog, Network printer, QZ Tray, Browser USB/Serial, Cloud Print.
• Configurable horizontal and vertical gutter spacing between labels.
• Manage and activate templates separately for product, combination, and order labels.
• Pre-seeded default templates for products, combinations, and orders.

• Firstly, go to the module manager in the back office and click on ‘upload a module’.
• After that, drag and drop the module file or select the file from the system.
• In this way, the module installation will be successful.

After the installation of the module, you will need to configure the module. The configuration is organized into five tabs: Barcode, CSV to barcode generation, Product label, Order label, and Printer.

Barcode Settings

In this tab, you can configure the classic print layout settings:

• Barcode Type: In this field, you can select the type of code you want to use to print a barcode.
• Print multiple in a row: Use this option to enable or disable the printing of multiple barcodes in a single row.
• Barcode height and width: Customize the size of barcodes that you want to print.
• Paper height and width: Set the height and width of paper on which barcodes will print.
• Horizontal gutter: Horizontal space between two labels in the same row.
• Vertical gutter: Vertical space between rows of labels.
• Rotate Barcode: Enable this option to print the barcodes in landscape mode. Otherwise, the barcodes will print in portrait mode.
• Details above/below barcode: Select the product parameters (product name, price, and reference) that you want to print above & below the barcodes.
• Preview: View the barcode after selecting the product details.

CSV to Barcode Generation

You can print multiple barcodes at a time by uploading a CSV file. The CSV should have ‘Product ID’ and ‘Number of labels to print’ columns. A sample CSV is available for download in this tab.

Note: This module does not generate barcodes itself. Instead, it helps you to generate the barcode labels using various product codes.

You will need to add those product codes in order to generate barcode labels for the products.

Product Label

The Product Label tab provides a visual drag-and-drop template designer for product and combination labels.

This tab also allows you to manage product and combination templates.

From the template list, you can choose to create a new template, Open in designer (Edit), Preview, Duplicate, Delete, and Set as active.

In the designer, add text, barcode, and image elements. Adjust position, size, font, color, and background. Set label width/height and save the template.

Activate the desired templates so they are used when printing in template mode.

Order Label

The Order Label tab provides a visual template designer for order labels, ideal for shipping and packing labels.

This tab also allows you to manage order templates.

From the template list, you can choose to create a new template, Open in designer (Edit), Preview, Duplicate, Delete, and Set as active.

Printer Settings

The Printer tab configures how labels are sent to printers. Use the browser print dialog or send directly to thermal/label printers using native command languages.

• Printer language: Choose Browser, ESC/POS, ZPL, or EPL. ESC/POS template mode approximates layouts on the character grid. Barcodes/images take their own lines. For pixel-accurate multi-column labels, use ZPL or EPL.

• Delivery method: Browser print dialog, Network printer, QZ Tray, Browser USB/Serial, or Cloud Print.
• Printer resolution (DPI): Used by ZPL/EPL for dot-based coordinates and for sizing image elements in templates. Ignored for browser printing.
• Characters per line (ESC/POS only): Adjust if multi-column layouts misalign.
• Printer name: Friendly label for the selected printer/device.
• Network settings: Enter the printer IP/hostname and port for direct network printing.
• QZ Tray: Click ‘Detect printers’ to list printers when QZ Tray is installed and running locally.
• WebUSB/Serial: Pair USB or serial printers directly from your browser (Chrome/Edge only).
• Cloud Print: Configure the cloud relay host, port, HTTPS, and timeout. Start, stop, or restart the bundled relay server. Download the desktop app for Windows, Linux, and macOS to connect client machines.

The module allows you to print Barcodes and Labels for each & every product individually. For that, go to Products in the Catalog section.

Here on this page, new options ‘Print Barcode’ (uses classic layout settings) and ‘Print Label’ (uses custom template designs) get available under the three-dot menu.

You can click on the three dots available in front of every product & proceed to print the Barcode and Label individually.

On clicking the ‘Print barcode’ (classic mode) or ‘Print label’ (template mode) button, a popup appears on the page where you can specify the number of barcodes or labels you want to print.

Now, click on the ‘Print barcode’ or ‘Print Label’ button.

Note: You will see two print options: ‘Print Barcode’ (uses classic layout settings) and ‘Print Label’ (uses custom template designs). See ‘Print Modes’ below for details.

Print Barcode Label of Multiple Products and Combinations

PrestaShop Product Barcode Label & Order Label allows you to print bulk label/barcodes of Products, Combinations, and Products with their combinations.

You can also print each using either classic or template mode depending on your selection.

• Print barcode of product only
• Print barcode of product + combinations
• Print barcode of combinations only
• Print product label
• Print combination label

Firstly, select the products on the product listing page and then choose the suitable bulk action.

Print barcodes of product only

If the selected products do not contain the necessary information or have incorrect information, then an error will display on the screen. In this case, no barcodes will print.

Also, if some products among the selected products contain any information, then barcodes of products with information will be printed & others will be left out.

Print barcode of product + combinations

Click on this option to print barcodes of products as well as their combinations.

Print barcode of combinations only

Select this option to print barcodes of combinations only.

Print product label 

Use this option to print labels for products using your custom-designed product templates from the Product Label tab.

Print combination label 

Use this option to print labels for combinations of products using your custom-designed combination templates from the Product Label tab.

Both of these use the template-based print mode rather than the classic mode used by the barcode options.

Print Barcode/Label for Combinations – Product Details Page

If you want, then you can also print barcodes and labels for product combinations. After the installation of the module, a printer and a label icon is added in front of each combination.

On clicking the icons, you can print barcodes or label for each product combination (using either classic mode or template-based design).

On clicking the Barcode or Label button, a popup appears on the page where you can specify the number of Barcodes or Labels you want to print for the product combination.

Now, click on the ‘Print barcode’ or ‘Print Label’ button.

Print Barcode Label of Multiple Combinations

Apart from printing the combination individually, you also get an option to print barcodes and labels of multiple combinations.

To print barcodes and labels of multiple combinations, firstly select the combinations & then click on the “Print Barcode of Combinations” or “Print Product Label of Combinations” button.

Print Barcode/Label from Stock

Under the Stock tab in the Catalog section, “Print barcode” & “Print Label” columns becomes available in the product list.

Click on the printer icon to print the barcode label of a product. And click on the label icon to print the label of a product.

Note: Functionality of printing barcode labels from the Stock tab is available in PrestaShop version 8.x.x and above.

The module allows you to print order labels for shipping and packing.

Order labels include order reference, order ID, order date/time, order state, invoice/delivery details, customer details, addresses, carrier, payment method, totals, weight, and items summary.

From Orders Grid

Go to Sell > Orders. Select one or more orders and choose ‘Print order label’ from the bulk actions dropdown. Review the print preview and confirm to print.

From Single Order Page

Open a specific order, then click the ‘Print order label’ button in the order actions bar. Review the print preview and confirm to print.
