PrestaShop Make Unique Product Identifier

Product identifiers are vital in ecommerce as they help to identify and recognize a specific product in the store. They allow store owners to track and manage stock with ease.

Thus it becomes important to use unique identifiers for each product to avoid any problems with inventory tracking.

Install Make Unique Product Identifier in your PrestaShop store to ensure that product identifiers never get duplicated.

The module validates the uniqueness of product identifiers like EAN-13/JAN, MPN, Reference, UPC, and ISBN and displays a warning if the retailer enters a duplicate value.

Note: PrestaShop Make Unique Product Identifier module is compatible with PrestaShop version 8.x.x and multi-store feature.

• Validate reference value uniqueness of a product while creating or updating the product.
• Validate the uniqueness of MPN, UPC, EAN-13/JAN, and ISBN while creating or updating the product.
• Validates the uniqueness of reference fields for product combinations.
• Duplicate product reference fields in duplicated product or left it blank.
• A dedicated tab to view products and combinations whose duplicate values exists.
• Improve inventory tracking.

• Firstly, go to the module manager in the back office and click on ‘upload a module’.
• After that, drag and drop the module file or select the file from the system.
• In this way, the module installation will be successful.

After the successful installation of the module, the admin needs to configure it.

Enable Product Identifiers

The admin can enable to validate the uniqueness of product identifiers (reference, MPN, UPC, EAN-13/JAN, and ISBN) while creating or updating the product.

While creating a new product, if the admin sets the same value of a product identifier, a warning message will display on the page as shown in the below screenshot.

The module also validates the uniqueness of reference fields for combinations.

Now, while updating a product, if the admin sets the same reference value (as that of above product combination) for the product combination, then a warning message will display on the page.

When the admin duplicates the product, the product reference fields will be left blank in the duplicated product if this field is enabled.

In the above screenshot, it can be seen that the product reference fields are empty.

Allow duplicate identifiers in combination products

If the field is enabled, then any one combination can have the same identifier as its product.

As per the setting, one combination can have the same reference value as its product.

After the successful installation of the module, a new tab “Product Identifiers” gets available under Catalog in the back office.

Here, the admin can view products and combinations for which the duplicate values exists.

In the above screenshot, we can see that the duplicate value exists in all the combinations of a product.

Click on the Edit button to view and update reference fields.
