PrestaShop Add Product with Customization Directly into Cart {User-Guide}

As a merchant, you should always look out for the features that help to enhance your customer’s experience. And, in the process helps you to get the sales too. As a merchant, you do know that there is very little time in making or breaking a deal. And, as an eCommerce merchant, a website is all that you have in order to represent your brand. Hence, in order to enhance the features of that website, we are here with the PrestaShop Add Product with Customization Directly into Cart module.

Here, you must be thinking, why do websites & their features matter so much? Where are the products or the services that I’m offering as an eCommerce merchant? Yes! you are right, but all those things will only matter if you were successful in stopping the customer from bouncing back. What if your potential customer bounces back after crawling through various pages? Then, there is only one thing that has the potential to stop a customer from bouncing back. And, that is none other than features. Yes, the unique features of your website.

Note: PrestaShop Add Product with Customization Directly into Cart module is compatible with PrestaShop version 8.x.x.

• Firstly, go to the “module manager” tab in the back office and click on ‘upload a module’.
• After that, drag and drop the module file or select the file from the system.
• In this way, the module installation will be successful.

After the successful installation of the module, you(admin) can now proceed to configure the module. So, let’s just dive right into the configuration part & see each option one by one.

In the first section, there are only two options.

• Hide Save Customization Button: This option will allow you to show or hide the ‘Save Customization’ button.
• Disable customization fields if stock management is enabled and product is out of stock: Suppose you have enabled this option then the customization fields will be disabled for taking the user input if the quantity of the product is not available.

After that, there is another section to add theme selectors. This section is particularly added for the better functioning of the module. Although the selectors are already filled according to Prestashop Classic Theme, it’s possible that it might not work correctly with your custom theme. Hence, in order to make the work easier, we have provided these fields where you can add selectors for various fields & buttons by yourself. In order to let your customer, add customizations to the product, you will need to add the fields for it. For this, Prestashop basically offers you to add two types of fields. The first one is the text field & the other one is the file field.

So, just to make it clearer, I’ll explain what each of these fields is for?

Text field allows your customer to add custom text messages/information that he/she wants to convey to you. Apart from this, it can also be the text that he wants to add/print on the product.

The file field allows your customer to add the following file types for customization information.

• PNG
• JPG
• GIF

Now, let’s just see how can you add these fields to a product. To add the customization field to a product, firstly go to the edit product page at the backend.

After that, go to the ‘Options’ section. Here, in this section, you will find a part of ‘Customization‘. Please refer to the screenshot below. Under this part, you can add multiple customization fields. Also, set their file type(text/file) & whether they will be mandatory field or not.

Now, after saving the above settings, your customers can view the customization fields on the product page. So, this was all about the process to add a customization field on the product page.

Product Page View

Earlier, the customers would need to upload the customization information & click on the ‘save customization’ button. This process is used to save the customization information only. And after this, a customer must click on the “add to cart” button to add the product to the cart along with customization.

Now, after the integration of this module, customers would no longer need to save the customization first. Info regarding this displays on the product page too. (Refer to the screenshot below)

Add the product customization directly into the cart

In order to add the customization to the product, upload the text & images in the relevant fields. After that, simply click on the ‘add to cart button. No need to save them first. All thanks to this module.

Now, the product will be added to the cart along with the customization.

A customer may view the files added by him/her by clicking on the button available on the cart page.

Afterward, the customer can edit the customization data on the cart page as well as shown in the below screenshot.

Finally, the edit text is updated in the cart.

To place the order, select a payment method of your choice to proceed.

Order Confirmation Page

Customers would also be able to view customization information even on this page. Just click on the ‘Product customization‘ button available below the product name to view the files.

The customization information is available at the admin end too.

So, this was all about the process to checkout with the customization.

In the earlier sections, I already explained the significance of the options available in configuration settings. So, let’s just not get into that again. Rather, let’s just see what happens when we hide the ‘Save Customization‘ button & disable ‘Customization Fields‘.

Following is the view of the page, when both options of configuration settings are set to “Yes“. As you may notice that there is no save customization button & fields are disabled too.
