    Opencart Follow Category

    Opencart Follow Category Module will provide a feature to the customer to follow the categories according to their choice. The customer can follow or unfollow the categories and sub-categories. The customer can make their own list of following categories and can go to the category in a single click. The admin can manage all the followers on the basis of customers and categories. The admin can also view the list of the customers who are following categories and categories which is followed by the customers as well.

    Features Of Opencart Follow Category

    • The admin can set the layout of this module to different pages of the store.
    • The admin can set the category view type as grid and list for the front end.
    • Admin can configure categories that all categories will appear or only parent categories will appear at the customer end.
    • The admin can configure to send automatic emails to customers when a new product will add in that category which is followed by the customer.
    • The admin can see the category list with the total number of followers.
    • Admin can see followers category wise and can redirect to the category page from there.
    • The customer can view and manage their followed categories from their account section.
    • The customer can see the followed categories and unfollow categories separately.

    Installation Of Opencart Follow Category

    Installation of the Opencart Follow Category Module is very simple. You need to move the Admin and Catalog folder into the Opencart root.

    After uploading the Admin and Catalog folders to the root directory, login to admin and from catalog section go to Extensions> Extension installer and upload the xml file. The xml file can be found on the ocmod folder under module directory.

    After uploading the XML file go to the Extensions => Modification and click on refresh field.

    After that in admin panel go to System -> Users -> Usergroup and edit ‘Administrator’ and choose select all for both access and modify permission and save it.

    Now navigate to Extensions => Modules to install and edit the Opencart Follow Category Module.

    Admin Configuration Of Opencart Follow Category

    After the installation of this module, the admin will configure the module by clicking on edit button. The admin can configure the following things:

    View Type: If selected as the list then follow category view will show as list view in front-end.

    Category Type: Select category type as all to show all the categories to the customer and select parent to show only the parent category to the customers.

    Send Mail: Select yes to send an email for new product added in the followed category.

    Admin View Of Opencart Follow Category

    The admin can view the Follow Category section in their admin panel. The admin can see two tabs over there.

    Category Follower:

    The admin can view the list of the followed category here and can also view the total follower of a particular category.

    After clicking on the category view button, the admin can see all the customers who are following that category.

    When the admin will click on the view button, the admin can view all the category list which will be following by the customer. The admin can directly go to the category page by clicking on live category view button.

    Customer Following:

    The admin can see the customers list who are following the categories. The admin can view the followed category of a particular customer by clicking on view button.

    After clicking on the view button, the admin can see all the list of the categories and can redirect directly to the category page on the front end.

    Customer View Of Follow Category

    The customer can find the “Follow Category” menu option in their account menu.

    After clicking on the follow category option, the customer will be redirected to the follow category page and can view the followed categories and unfollowed categories. On this page, there are two sections here. One is the list of followed categories and another one is unfollowed categories. The customer can follow or unfollow the categories from here.

    When the customer will click on follow category button then it will remove from this section and will show in the followed categories section.

    The customer can view the followed categories in two views ie: grid view and the list view. It will depend on the admin selection from their configuration.

    The customer can follow or unfollow the categories from category page also as per the below image.

    The “thumbs up” icon represents the count of people who all have liked this category.

    Follow Category Section At Home Page:

    The admin can set the layout of the module to different pages and position. The customer will view the followed category section as below screenshot:

    Note: The customer can view the follow category block only after login to the account.
