Guide for Opencart Vehicle Part Finder

Opencart Vehicle Part Finder module helps customers to search and find the right parts for their Vehicles on the online store.

Vehicle Part Finder module also provides drop-down menu options for quickly finding the right parts for your vehicle.

The admin can also add the Parts Finder on the different layouts according to their needs.

Also, this module is not restricted to vehicle part search, it can also be used for other applications as well.

1. This module supports all templates and themes including the Journal theme.

2. Opencart Vehicle Part Finder module supports the Multi-Store feature of default Opencart.

3. To use this module, the PHP version must be 5.5 or higher.

Installation

Step 1:

Installation of the Module is easy. Under the module XML, there are 3 folders image, catalog, and admin, you just need to upload these folders to the root directory of the website.opencart-vehicle-part-finder-installation

Note – You can also install the Opencart Vehicle Parts Finder module by uploading the ZIP or XML file from the ocmod folder. Please upload the ZIP file for version 3.X and upload the XML  file for version 2.X.

Step 2:

Now log in to the admin backend and navigate through Extensions -> Extension Installer. Click the Upload button and browse the XML file, this file is in the ocmod folder. Please select the correct ocmod folder. According to your Opencart version installed in your system.opencart-vehicle-part-finder-file-upload

Step 3:

After uploading the XML file, please navigate through Extensions > Modifications. Now, click the Refresh button as visible in below snapshot.opencart-vehicle-part-finder-modification

Step 4:

After that, in Admin panel go to System -> Users -> Usergroup and edit ‘Administrator’ and select all for both Access and Modify Permission then save it.

Module Translation

Module Configuration

After the module installation, the admin can easily configure the module settings. For this, the admin will navigate to Extensions -> Modules as per the below image.opencart-vehicle-part-finder-module-config

Here, select the module and then click on the Edit icon. This will navigate the admin to the Edit Module page as per the below image.opencart-vehicle-part-finder-module-enable

Here, the admin can set the module status as either enabled or disabled.

Admin – Module Configuration

After the successful installation of the module, the admin will navigate to the Part Finder>Part Finder List in order to configure the Part Finders.

Here, the admin can view all list of all part finders. The admin can add, delete and edit a part finder as per the above image. Part finder can be filtered using the part finder name, date created and the status of the part finder.

The admin will click new part finder button to create Part finder where the admin will get three sections (General information, Add DropDown Options, Add Products and enter the specific information about the parts to be created for the specific products.

1. General Information

Store – Here, the admin can choose the store in which admin wants to use Part Finder.

Part Finder Name – It will be shown at admin end at Part finder listing page.

Part Finder Label – The admin will enter part finder name. It will be displayed at the front end.

Categories – The admin can assign multiple categories to a Part finder

Status –  The admin can set the status “Enabled” or “Disabled”  of the part finder.

Click on ” Add DropDown options” button for going to next section.

2. Add DropDown Options – 

The admin can add multiple dropdowns for a part finder. The admin will need to fill the drop-down name, sort order(display order at the front end) and can set dropdown is required or not by selecting “Yes” or “No”.

Import Dropdown Options using CSV files

Also, the admin can easily upload the dropdown options by importing values through a CSV file. For that, the admin just needs to click on ” Import CSV File ” then Upload  CSV file and click back on the ” Import CSV File”.

3. Add Products – 

To add the products firstly admin need to create some dropdown options, after that the admin can add the product for a part finder by making a search for the products. The admin can also select the product and can delete it.

Add DropDown Values

For adding the dropdown values, the admin can select multiple products from the search bar. webkul-opencart-vehicle-part-finder-search-products

After selecting the products, the admin will click on “Add dropdown values”. From there admin can select the specific dropdown values for the products or can create new values. And then Save the respective Part Finder

The selected products will be shown on the front end when a customer selects the same values on the part finder as set by the admin. After configuring the part finder, Click on ” Save ” button.

Here, the admin can see one more button to the left of “Add Products” that is “View Products“.

Tapping on the “View Products” button navigates the store owner to the created Part finders products.part_finder_products

How to Add Part Finder on the Layouts –

The admin can add the Parts Finder on the different layouts like – Category, Contact Us, Home, Checkout etc.

For this, follow these steps Design >Layouts in the admin panel and select a layout to add the Parts Finder as per below snapshot – webkul-opencart-parts-finder-layout-selection

After selecting the layout, the admin needs to select the module (Webkul Vehicle Part Finder)  as per the below snapshot – webkul-opencart-parts-finder-layout-config

The admin can also set the module(Webkul Vehicle Part Finder) on the different positions(Column Left, Column Right, Content Top, Content Bottom), And save the all configuration as per the below snapshot – webkul-opencart-parts-finder-layout-setting

Note – If you want to display part finder on all categories then set the part finder module on the category layout without assigning a category to the part finder.

Customer End

The admin can also add the Parts Finder on the different layouts according to their needs.

After creating the Part Finder successfully from the backend, Now the customer can select the specific “Category” and can view the Part Finder on the catalog page as per the below snapshot – s

The customers can select the dropdown values and can find the right part for their vehicle or product as per the below snapshot – part-finder-category-1

The customer can also switch the category and the dropdown options will remain same if that category have any product for that particular search as shown below.

If the customer switches the category and that category doesn’t have any product for the particular search then, in that case, the dropdown options will get a refresh as shown below.

On the “Contact” layout, the customer can view the Part Finder as the admin set the Part Finder on this layout from the backend  –

The created Part Finder blocks values are dependable fields. What this means is that for a particular selection, the assigned values will get displayed and if from them we choose one more option then the assigned value to that one will get displayed for selection.

Below, we can see that for the Color label we have chosen White and it brings up the options created for the white color under the Model label. After choosing one available option for the Model, the respective Brands for the selected model get displayed for selection.
