    About The Module

    Odoo SEO-URL Redirect/Rewrite For Event module adds the features to rewrite/redirect Event URLs in Odoo. You can now make the event page urls more human friendly and easily legible to your audience.

    It facilitates the Odoo admin to change the slug of the event urls, remove controllers from the urls, enable redirects on the pages, etc.

    You can set various redirects to the pages on the event page to prevent 404 error on any dead page.

    Every change made to the url is recorded in the Odoo backend for future reference of the Odoo admin.

    Features

    • The module allows you to rewrite/redirect event URLs in Odoo.
    • Allows you to rewrite the slug of the event page published on the Odoo website.
    • From settings, you can set a default pattern to auto-create slugs of event posts such as name, etc.
    • The set pattern is automatically used when a new event is published.
    • You can also bulk update the slugs of already published events using the set pattern.
    • The module allows you to put redirects – 301 & 302 on any event page.
    • You can add a text suffix at the end of event URLs such as .ev, etc.
    • You can remove the controller ‘/event’ to make it more human friendly.

    Prerequisites For Using the Module

    Odoo SEO-URL Redirect/Rewrite For Event module is dependent on the following module:

    This module needs to be installed first for Odoo SEO-URL Redirect/Rewrite For Event module to work properly.

    Installation

    1.) Once you purchase the App from the Webkul store, you will receive the link to download the zip file of the module.

    2.) Extract the file on your system after the download finishes. You will be able to see a folder named- ‘seo_url_redirect_event’.

    3.) Copy and paste this folder inside your Odoo Add-Ons path.

    4.) Now, open the Odoo App and click on the Settings menu. Here, click on Activate the Developer Mode.

    5.) Then, open on the Apps menu and click on ‘Update Modules List’.

    6.) In the search bar, remove all the filters and search ‘seo_url_redirect_event.

    7.) You will be able to see the module in the search result. Click on ‘Install’ to install it.

    Workflow

    Default Configuration Settings

    1.) To set the event URL settings, go to website >> website addons and click on configuration next to SEO-URL Redirect/Rewrite.

    2.) Here you can set various defaults. A number of settings come directly from SEO-URL Rewrite/Redirect module. To know about them please refer to the guide.

    Event Suffix

    3.) Use this setting to add or remove a suffix as text at the end of your event url such as .ev.

    Pattern For Event URL Key

    4.) Pattern for catalog url key – This setting is used to create default slugs for events urls.

    5.) So now, whenever a new event is published, this set pattern will be used. Moreover, when you bulk rewrite the event url using this setting as explained below

    6.) You can use the event attributes such as name, display_name, etc to create unique url slugs.

    • If enabled the settings will remove the controller – ‘/event’ from the URL.

    7.) Go to configuration >> seo rewrites >> Events to rewrites the event url as you wish

    8.) Here from the list choose the desired event slug and change its url key/slug. This will change the event slug which is the last part of the url. Click save.

    9.) Here is how it will look after making the changes.

    10.) Note: The system creates a redirect automatically for every rewrite. The reason for this is each url is unique and rewriting a URL means you are creating a new one. So a permanent auto-redirect needs to be is assigned to the event page to direct traffic from old slug to new slug.

    11.) Now to bulk update the event urls, select the desired event and click on the action button. Next click on update seo url. The system will use the settings from the pattern of event url key to update the new urls.

    Using Redirects

    12.) Redirect diverts the traffic from one page to another.

    13.) Difference between rewrite and redirect is that for redirecting both source and destination URLs should be real and already working.

    14.) While for rewrites you create an entirely new url for the event and then redirect the traffic from old url.

    15.) Go to website redirect. Click on create

    16.) Here chose the redirect type permanent and temporary.

    17.) Then choose the source url. Note, the slug of the source url should be from Odoo website.

    18.) Then enter the destination slug. (Can be any webpage) note: the page should exist. Otherwise, it will give 404 error.

    19.) Next, choose event under ‘create url rewrite’ field. The ID path is auto-filled depending upon what you choose.

    20.) So now whenever you click on event you will redirect to destination page automatically.

    21.) You can see the assigned redirects from the list.
