Bugzilla:Defect Tracking Tool

Overview

Bugzilla is an open-source bug tracking tool that allows developers to keep track of problems with their product.Buzgilla is written in Perl language and it uses my sql database.Through this we can generate Report bug very easily.

Procedure to logging and create Bug report in Bugzilla

To create the new account in Bugzilla or login to the existing account then click here .

• If you are first time user then click on New account.Here filled the Email address then a confirmation mail will be sent to the email id which one you have mention for creating account.

Now click on link in email and set the password.

Enter the password in the password field and click on create button.then such type of landing page will get open.

Brief about components of Bugzilla

1. File the bug.

First of all click on new bug icon while clicking on this icon it will redirect to the product page.select anyone of the product it will redirect to bug reporting page.The screens appear as shown below.

As per above screen we need to fill the following field.

Product: It is the product that you have selected.

Component: Each product can be split into several components based on its functionalities.

Version : Version of the product, it means the product in which the bug has been detected.

Summary: It is used to define the summary of a product.

Attachment: For better understanding about Bug one can also attached the file.

2. Search

One can search the bug by two method first one is Simple search and second one is advance search.Simple search screenshot is shown below.

Here fill the keywords and click on the search button.The bug list will appear as shown in screen below..

3. Reports

The purpose of the defect is to see the analysis, progress and communication of a defect, and the current stage of a life cycle. Defect report is also useful after creating a bug that helps the developers to analyze the quality of a product.In Bugzilla report can be generated in three way as Graphical report,Tabular report and Duplicate

To generate the report follow the path more tools>Report>click Graphical report.then such screen will look like as shown below.

Here select the details and click on generate report.The result will be shown in whatever graphical format (Line Graph,Bar chart,Pie chart) you have selected.Result will look like as shown below.
