Woocommerc Marketplace Avalara Tax The module enables store owners to seamlessly connect their online store with an automated tax compliance system.
Woocommerce Marketplace Avalara Tax module is perfect for global online stores because it calculates taxes in real-time. It automatically updates whenever government tax rules change, covering thousands of locations worldwide.
For access to the Avatax services the user can register themselves by creating an account with Avalara.
Note-1: This plugin is now compatible with WooCommerce’s latest High-Performance Order Storage (HPOS) and Cart and Checkout block.

Features
- Admin can enable or disable Avalara Avatax from the panel.
- Admin can assign tax classes to products.
- Tax rates are determined by the customer’s billing address.
- Buyers can see applied taxes on the cart and checkout pages.
Installation
The user will get a zip file that he has to upload in the “Add New” menu option in the WordPress admin panel.
For this, login to WordPress Admin Panel then Under the Dashboard, hover your mouse over the “Plugins” menu option which brings out a Sub-Menu then select the “Add New” option.
After this, you will see an option on the top of your page that is “Upload Plugin”, Now clicks the option to upload the zip file.

By clicking on the “Upload Plugin” option, below that you will see a button “Choose File” click on the button to browse for the zip file as per the snapshot below.

After browsing the file, click the “Install Now” button to install the plugin as per the snapshot.

Now when the plugin is installed correctly, you will see the success message & an option to activate the plugin.
Henceforth now, click on “Activate Plugin” to activate the installed plugin.

After the plugin is installed successfully, it is visible under the Installed Plugins section as per the image below,

Retrieve Avalara Account Details
After creating an Avalara account, the user needs to navigate to the settings.
To manage the business, they can use the Account ID and License Key provided during account creation.

After navigating to License Keys, click on the Generate New Key button to create a new key, as shown in the images below.

Users can add items from the product catalog and categorize them by assigning an Avalara tax category.
This helps Avalara determine how the items are taxed across different jurisdictions, as shown in the screenshots below.

Admin-End – AvaTax Connection Settings
After completing the installation, the admin can configure the settings by going to WooCommerce > Settings > Tax.


Connect to Avalara
- Account ID: The admin must enter the Avalara account ID.
- License Key: Enter the Avalara license key.
Transaction outside the US(HS Code Classification)
- Enable Sync: Enables the calculation of customs duties for orders shipped outside the U.S. Using Avalara, line items must include a complete and accurate tariff code specific to the destination country.
- Avalara Username: The username used for your Avalara login.
- Avalara Password: The password associated with your Avalara login.
- Select Countries to Assign HS Code: Choose countries outside the U.S. to calculate customs duties. Avalara automatically assigns HS codes for the selected countries.
- Sync Product with Avalara: Select “Sync” to synchronize your WooCommerce product catalog with Avalara.
Products-Tax code
The admin can add product data by navigating to Products > All Products.
From here, they can edit the product’s tax code according to Avalara Tax Categories, as shown in the image below.

Seller-Workflow
Sellers can also add their products to the store and assign the appropriate Avalara tax code based on the Avalara tax categories. To add the tax code, navigate to the product section.
Once there, all the products will be visible on the seller’s storefront.
Sellers can add a product by clicking the “Add (+)” button, edit an existing product by clicking “Edit,” and assign the tax code.
The screenshot below shows the seller’s product tax code on the product details page.

Customer-workflow
Customers can log in to the WooCommerce Marketplace Avalara Tax system after signing in.
They can view product details in the store and proceed to checkout.
As shown in the image below, the product details include the product tax code that has been added.

During checkout, the customer must fill in all the required details and review the order summary, which includes the State Use Tax amount.
The screenshot below shows the checkout page with the order summary for the purchased product.
