In today’s world, Subscription box services have become increasingly popular in recent years as consumers look for more convenient and exciting ways to receive products. For businesses, offering a subscription box service can provide a reliable source of recurring revenue and customer loyalty. Shopify, one of the leading e-commerce platforms, offers a range of subscription box apps that enable businesses to easily set up and manage their own subscription box service. These apps provide the necessary functionality to create product bundles, set up payment options, manage customer accounts, and more.
In this article, we’ll take a closer look at subscription box apps for Shopify and explore their benefits for businesses.
Workflow
After completing the installation process, selecting a suitable plan, and making the necessary payment, the subscription box app will be readily available for use within your Shopify store.
By clicking on the Subscription Box, you will be directed to the Dashboard of the Subscription Box App.
Dashboard
The dashboard of the subscription box app displays various useful metrics such as the total number of purchased and pending subscription boxes, as well as the number of currently active and ended subscriptions. Additionally, the dashboard also provides an overview of recently received orders.
To obtain more detailed information about an order, you can click on the “View” button located under the “Action” tab.
Configuration
The configuration of the subscription box app can be divided into three main parts:
- Store Front Configuration

Using email templates can save time and improve consistency in messaging. They can be customized with specific information, such as the Subject title, recipient’s name, or order details, to personalize the message.
General Configuration
With the General Configuration feature, you have the ability to swiftly set up your domain name and email. You can even choose how many hours or days in advance you’d like these reminders to be sent out automatically. This ensures that your customers will always be informed and up-to-date about their subscription status, without any extra effort on your part.
Subscription Box
In this section, you can see the list of all the subscription boxes available in your store. From here, you can easily manage the subscription boxes by adding new ones, editing existing ones, viewing their details, and enabling or disabling them as needed.
Adding a subscription box to your website is easy. You just need to click on the “Add Subscription Box” button and a new page will appear. Here, when adding a subscription box, you can choose the type of box and give it a name and description. You can then select the products you want to include in the subscription box.
On the right-hand side of the page, you will find different fields to customize your subscription box. You can choose the subscription type, and set the product price. And merchants have the option to include additional discounts in both fixed and dynamic subscription boxes if they so choose.
There are two types of subscription boxes available:
- Dynamic Subscription Box
- Fixed Subscription Box
Both Dynamic and Fixed Subscription Boxes offer the option to bundle multiple products.
In a Dynamic Subscription Box, customers can choose their preferred products and create their own bundle, but with a maximum limit on the number of products they can select at once. The price of the bundle is then calculated based on this maximum limit.
Note: To figure out the price, you add up how much all the products cost and then divide that by the maximum limit you’re allowed to buy.
On the other hand, in a Fixed Subscription Box, customers cannot choose individual products for their bundle. Instead, they must purchase the entire pre-selected package, with the price of the bundle determined by adding up the cost of each product included.
Order
The Order section provides a comprehensive list of all the Subscribed Boxes, including the Box name, quantity, and subscribed date and time.
Additionally, by clicking on the 3 dots(…) located under the Action button, you can access the details of each subscribed box.
Moreover, it enables you to send reminder email notifications manually to customers prior to the renewal of their subscription.
