Prestashop Quantity Discount Block

In the eCommerce domain, discounts are something that many merchants offer to allure potential customers. After all, who doesn’t want attractive discounts on the products? Even if you are a merchant, you must be a customer of some products. And being a customer, there is something that we all would agree. That is, we tend to buy more number of products if the discounts are better with increased quantity. Considering all these factors in mind, we are here with yet another module i.e. Prestashop Quantity Discount Block.

The module is designed to show multiple quantity discounts created by you in an organised way on the product page. You would get to know more about other valuable features that comes with it on the upcoming sections. But let’s just see what quantity discounts are & how they help merchants?

Suppose you create a quantity discount of 20% & 30% for 3 & 4 quantity of the products. And, the price of the product was $20. Generally, if your customer buys 3 quantities of product, then he will need $60 in the absence of a discount. But, now with quantity discount, he only needs to pay $48( $20*3 = 60 & after 20% discount on $60 = 48$ ). This way not only customer saves by purchasing more quantities but a merchant also makes more money.

• Show or hide the discount block on the product page.
• Show or hide the unit price of the product after applying a discount on the block.
• Select the position to show the discount block on the product page.
• Choose to show the discount block on all the product listing pages or selected pages.
• Select the product listing pages as per your wish to show discount block on them.
• Show or hide the unit price of the product after an effective discount in block even on product listing pages.
• Choose to show or hide discount block on product listing pages for mobile devices.
• Set the background color for the discount button for listing pages.
• Set the view type for the discount table on listing pages.
• Also, this module is Multishop compatible.

Note:

Prestashop Quantity Discount Block module is compatible with PrestaShop framework version 8.x.x.

• Firstly, go to the module manager in the back office and click on ‘upload a module’.
• After that, drag and drop the module file or select the file from the system.
• In this way, the module installation will be successful.

After the successful installation of the module, you(admin) need to configure the module. Let’s understand each option of the configuration settings one by one.

As you can notice, there are two parts in configuration settings. The setting of the first part is for product page & the second part is for product listing pages. Firstly, let’s see the options available in the first part.

• Show on the product page: This option allows you to show or hide the discount block on the product page.
• Discount price on the product page: This will help you to show or hide the unit price of the product after applying a discount on the block.
• Select the position to display the discount block: Select the position of the block for the product page.

After this, there is another section for settings of Product Listing pages. Therefore, let’s just see what all options do we get in this part.

• Select pages: This option allows you to show a discount block either on all the pages or some selected pages. In case, if you choose “selected pages”, then only the next option opens i.e. option to select the pages.
• Product listing pages: This option will help you to show the discount block only on the selected pages.
• Display unit price: Enable this option to show the discounted unit price of the product in the block on product listing pages.
• Display discount table in mobile devices: Enable to show the discount block on mobile devices.

So, this was all about the configuration settings of the module. Now, let’s see how we can create quantity discounts rule for products. Basically, there are two ways two create it. Hence, we will discuss them one by one.

Note:

In order to show discount block on product listing pages in PS 1.6, add following hook.

In order to create quantity discounts & apply to a large number of products simultaneously, go to the discounts section. Under the discounts section, you will find a tab of “Catalog price rules“.

Before getting into the process to create a catalog price rule, let me tell you something about it first. Catalog price rule allows you to apply discounts to multiple products simultaneously. This not only eases the process but also removes the necessity to apply discounts to product one by one.

Now, let’s get back to the process to create a new catalog price rule. To create a new rule, click on the “Add new catalog price rule” button.

After clicking on the button, following form will open at your end. Fill in the necessary details & proceed to save it.

Note: Please note that the price rule you create must have “From Quantity” greater than 1. Otherwise, no discount block will show. This is because we are only dealing with quantity discounts. So, unless the quantity is greater than 1, multiple discounts will not show. Rather, they will overlap each other.

After saving the new price rule, set discount according to plan will be applicable on all the products.

Apart from this, there is another way to apply discounts on product too. So, let’s just go to the next section quickly.

Prestashop also provides a way to apply a discount to the product individually. To apply a discount to the product, go to catalog-> products. After that go to the “Pricing” section. Then click on the “Add a specific price” button.

Now, fill in the necessary details to create a new discount on this particular product.

This was all about the process to create a discount for the product.

After creating multiple quantity discounts, a customer can view all of them in a block on the product page. Following screenshot shows the quantity discount block on the product page.

You may recall that in the configuration settings, there were two sections. And, in the second section, there was also an option to show a discount block on various product listing pages.
