INSTALLATION
- Once you purchase the App from the Webkul store, you will receive the link to download the zip file of the module.
- Extract the file on your system after the download finishes. You will be able to see a folder named- ‘odoo_tableau_connect.’
- Copy and paste this folder inside your Odoo Add-Ons path.
- Now, open the Odoo App and click on the Settings menu. Here, click on Activate the Developer Mode.
- Then, open the Apps menu and click ‘Update Modules List.’
- In the search bar, remove all the filters and search ‘odoo_tableau_connect.’
- You will be able to see the module in the search results. Click on ‘Install’ to install it.

WORKFLOW
Setting Up Odoo Connector:
1. Log in to your Odoo App and Navigate to the Odoo Tableau Connector module.
2. Under the configuration menu, You will find the option to create a connection.
3. Click the ‘New’ button in the top left corner to create a new connection.
4. Fill in the following details to configure the connection:
Name: Fill in the name of your connection.
Server URL: Fill in the URL of your Server i.e. the URL of your tableau instance.
Auth Method: Select the authentication method with which you want to connect your odoo and Tableau App. there are two options for connecting your odoo and tableau i.e. PAT tokens and User Credentials. Select ‘User Credential’ from the Auth Method dropdown.
5. Under the Credentials Tab, Enter the Username and password of your tableau account.
6. Navigate to the General Tab and Fill in the Tableau Site Name. You can get the site name from the URL of the tableau.
7. Now, Click ‘Test Connection.’ and your odoo and tableau will be connected.

Creating New Projects
8. Navigate to the project section under the projects tab and create a new project by clicking the new button.
9. Fill in the details of the new project.
Name: Provide a name for your project
Responsible User: Assign a user who will be responsible for the project.
Tableau Instance: Select ‘Tableau Instances’ Under which you want to create a project
10. Now, Click the ‘Publish’ Button to publish the project from odoo to Tableau. A pop-up window will appear as ‘Project Successfully Exported’
Configuring a New Datasource:
11. Navigate to the Datasourc section under the projects tab and create a new datasource by clicking the new button on the top left corner.
Fill in the details of the new Datasource.
Name: Provide a name to your datasource
Tableau Instance Select ‘Tableau Instances’ Under which you want to create a Datasource.
Hyper file name: this will already be configured according to your datasource.
Run Cron: Enable this feature if you want to sync your datasource with a set interval of time.
Description: Describe your datasource.
Creating a New Table:
12. Navigate to the table section under the projects tab and create a new table by clicking the new button.
Fill in the details of the new project.
Name: Provide a name for your project
Datasource: Assign a Datasource under which you want to create a table.
Model: Select a model for which you are creating a table.
Tableau Instance: Select ‘Tableau Instances’ Under which you want to create a table.
Run Cron: Enable this feature if you want to sync your table with a set interval of time.
Configure Table:
13. Click ‘Add a line’ under the Columns tab. A popup window appears. Select the desired field from the dropdown menu. Click ‘Save & New’ to add more columns as needed and Save & close to view the final table.
Publish Project
14. Navigate to the Project and click on the publish button in the top left corner to publish your project from odoo to Tableau.
Export Datasource
15. Navigate back to the ‘Datasource’ menu. Click ‘Publish’ to make the datasource available in Tableau.
16. Click on ‘Export Data’ to make your data accessible in Tableau. A new pop-up window will appear showing ‘Data source successfully exported’.
Setting up Workbook Embedding:
17. Go to the ‘Project’ section and update your project. In the connection details, navigate to ‘General Option’ and check ‘Enable Workbook Embedding.’
18. Under ‘Embedding Credentials,’ fill in the following details: Email, Client ID, Secret ID, Secret Key. You can get all these by navigating to settings >> Connected app >> Select the app >> Access the Client ID, Secret ID, and Secret Key.
Importing Workbook:
19. Navigate to your Tableau Connection from the ‘Configuration’ menu and Choose ‘Import Workbook’ Select your Tableau Instance and project from the popup window. Click ‘Import’ to import the workbook.
20. Your Workbook is successfully imported from the tableau to odoo apps
Viewing Your Project:
21. You can access your workbook list from the ‘Workbook’ section. Click on your desired workbook to view your Odoo data visualizations in Tableau.
