A Complete Beginners Guide to Adobe Commerce Cloud

Updated 14 December 2022

Adobe Commerce Cloud is a Cloud version of Adobe Commerce (previously known as Magento Commerce).

In this blog article, we will understand the complete details of the Adobe Commerce Cloud, its use cases, pricing and tech stacks.  Also, we will discuss the pros and cons of it.

What is Adobe Commerce Cloud?

Well in simple terms it is a Cloud-hosted Magento with some additional extensions and infrastructure.

I would not say it’s a SaaS ( software as a service ) but more like a PaaS ( platform as a service ). That includes:

  • CDN (Content Delivery Network) from Fastly
  • WAF (Web Application Firewall) from Fastly
  • Cloud hosting from AWS & Azure
  • Performance optimization from New Relic and Blackfire
  • Also all the dependency management tools like Composer
  • Source code version control GIT
  • DevOps and CI (Continuous Integration)
  • SendGrid

And many such inbuilt tools. So you can imagine this as a package of Magento 2 with those additional utilities.

Also as I said it does include all features of Enterprise Commerce Cloud and Open Source. That includes:

  • A complete B2B suite
  • Gift card
  • RMA
  • Credit Management
  • Shared catalogue
  • Page Builder
  • Adobe Sensei

Adobe Commerce Cloud comes in two plans:

  • Starter plan
  • Pro plan

And a couple of more extensions that are not available in the open-source edition. Please view the complete list in this table:

Adobe Commerce Cloud Pricing

Unlike open-source, it is not FREE. So merchants need to pay a yearly subscription for the Adobe Commerce Cloud.

There is no fixed cost and pricing depends upon the sales target which merchants made using the Adobe Commerce Cloud platform.

You don’t need to pay separately for hosting or CDN. The pricing includes all the hosting, security and support from Adobe as well.

As Webkul is an Adobe Commerce Solution Partner, we do provide complete development, customisation and migration services.

Does Adobe Commerce Cloud Suites for My Business?

Well, the answer is “it depends”.

If you are running a small shop without any in-house technical team or developer THEN it will be very hard to manage.

In that case, I would recommend going for Shopify, WooCommerce, Bagisto or Opencart.

But if you are running a big eCommerce website or marketplace then certainly Adobe Commerce Cloud suit well for your business.

Adobe Commerce Cloud development is highly technical and complex which is why you should choose the solution partners for the same.

Adobe Commerce is suited for high-end customisation and development, unlike other SAAS platforms. You will have full access to the source code to customise.

Along with that ACC (Adobe Commerce Cloud) is now the part of Adobe Experience platform which means it is tightly integrated with Adobe experience suites like:

  • Experience manager
  • DAM ( Digital Asset Management  )
  • MDM ( Master Data Management )
  • Marketo
  • Analytics

These tools are essential, especially in enterprise-grade eCommerce or marketplace shops.

Conclusion

To recap, we can say that the Adobe Commerce Cloud is well suited for Enterprise-grade shops/ marketplaces. Further, it does suit small businesses as well, but of course, it is not that cost-effective for small shops.
