Configure odoo outgoing mail servers

In this blog, we will discuss how to configure the outgoing mail server in  Odoo. For configuring the outgoing mail server in Odoo you need to do the following simple steps.

Steps to configure outgoing mail server in Odoo

Step 1.  Go to the Outgoing Mail Servers menu through
            Settings -> Email -> Outgoing Mail Servers.
Click on the Create button to create the Outgoing mail server. See the below image.

Step 2. Fill in the above fields.

  • Description :->  A description of the Outgoing mail server
  • Priority :-> Priority of your outgoing mail server. Low-priority mail servers are used first and mostly.
  • SMTP Server :->The server SMTP e.g,  zsmtp.hybridzimbra.com(for Thunderbird)
  • SMTP Port :-> The SMTP port of your server e.g, 465 (for Thunderbird)
  • Connection Security :-> Security to be used like TLS(STARTTLS) or SSL/TLS. Use  SSL/TLS for Thunderbird
  • Username :-> Your e-mail account.
  • Password:-> The password of your e-mail account.

Step 3. Click on the Test connection button. If all of your credentials are correct, the following message will be displayed.

Step 4. Save the configuration.
Now your Odoo is ready to send the emails through this configuration.

                                               Common Errors that can arise.

This error can arise because of the wrong SMTP Server

4.-ERROR

This error can arise because of the wrong authorization credentials(username and password) of your email.

Now we are going to show you how to get the SMTP server details in Thunderbird and Gmail.
 a. Thunderbird Credentials.

Go through the following steps.
               Edit :-> Account Settings :-> Outgoing Server (SMTP)

b. Gmail credentials.
     The SMTP server credentials for configuring Gmail are.

SMTP Server =  smtp.gmail.com
SMTP port = 465
Connection Security  =  SSL/TLS
Username = your gmail id
Password = your gmail password

You can go through the following steps to see the credentials
Settings > Forwarding and POP/IMAP >  Configure your email client > Configuration instructions
