Challenges Faced: Keith Beeby approached Webkul Software with two significant business problems that needed prompt and efficient solutions.
Streamlining Product Scanning and Checkout Process: Keith wanted to enhance the user experience by allowing products to be added to the cart without repeatedly entering the lot or serial number. Additionally, he wanted the system to redirect to the payment validation screen directly.
Solution:
- We integrated the barcode and lot/serial number scanning capability using the device’s camera in the web-based Odoo POS. This functionality is also available in the Odoo iOS mobile application.
- We modified the system to restrict the pop-up for entering the serial/lot number before adding items to the POS cart. Instead, this prompt now appears at the final step of the order placement in POS during validation.
“This improvement has significantly reduced the checkout time and enhanced the overall customer experience,” remarked Keith Beeby.
Customer Tagging and Filtering: Keith needed a way to tag customers as “Retail customer” or “Business customer” and required a search filter to find clients based on these tags.
Solution:
- We added an option to choose the type of customer (Retail or Business) in both the Odoo backend and the POS frontend during new customer creation.
- Existing customers can also be tagged as either type from both the Odoo backend and POS.
- We implemented a search filter in the backend to facilitate contact purposes based on customer type.
“The ability to tag and filter customers has streamlined our customer management process, making it more efficient and organized,” Keith shared.
We also helped him out with one of his problems where Keith’s POS used to take a lot of time to load due to excessive client base, price, and product. We deployed our Odoo_POS_Fast Loading module and now Keith’s POS loads 80 times faster.
Outcome: Albion’s operations have become more seamless and efficient thanks to these tailored solutions. The improvements not only met Keith’s expectations but also enhanced the overall functionality of their system.
