I had been struggling while installing Odoo 11 (Community Edition) on Docker (Ubuntu 16.04),<\/p>\n

The error i`m getting are \u2013<\/p>\n

UnicodeDecodeError: ‘ascii’ codec can’t decode byte 0xc2 in position 29: ordinal not in range(128)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Not only this,\u00a0the python print<\/strong>\u00a0command terminates when trying to print Unicode characters:<\/p>\n

UnicodeEncodeError: ‘ascii’ codec can’t encode characters…<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

I found that Python 3 uses Unicode everywhere, which makes it inconvenient to use in an environment that claims not to support Unicode, such as these Docker images. This issue can be easily fixed by setting up system`s default locale encoding to UTF-8, as:<\/p>\n

PROBLEM<\/b>: Hit command ‘locale’ , and check the output:<\/p>\n

LANG=\r\nLANGUAGE=\r\nLC_CTYPE=\"POSIX\"\r\nLC_NUMERIC=\"POSIX\"\r\nLC_TIME=\"POSIX\"\r\nLC_COLLATE=\"POSIX\"\r\nLC_MONETARY=\"POSIX\"\r\nLC_MESSAGES=\"POSIX\"\r\nLC_PAPER=\"POSIX\"\r\nLC_NAME=\"POSIX\"\r\nLC_ADDRESS=\"POSIX\"\r\nLC_TELEPHONE=\"POSIX\"\r\nLC_MEASUREMENT=\"POSIX\"\r\nLC_IDENTIFICATION=\"POSIX\"\r\nLC_ALL=<\/pre>\n
SOLUTION:<\/strong>
\nDirectly execute these commands:<\/p>\n
locale-gen en_US.UTF-8<\/strong>\r\nexport LANG=en_US.UTF-8 LANGUAGE=en_US.en LC_ALL=en_US.UTF-8<\/strong><\/pre>\n
or, add these lines in your DockerFile:<\/p>\n
# Set the locale\r\nRUN locale-gen en_US.UTF-8<\/strong>\r\nENV LANG en_US.UTF-8<\/strong>\r\nENV LANGUAGE en_US:en<\/strong>\r\nENV LC_ALL en_US.UTF-8<\/strong><\/pre>\n
Now, Hit command ‘locale’ , and check the output:<\/p>\n
