Introduction<\/h2>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Odoo MCP Server Integration<\/a><\/strong> enables Odoo to communicate with MCP-compatible AI applications through the Model Context Protocol (MCP)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It allows AI clients such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini,<\/strong> and other compatible applications to securely access Odoo data and capabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The module supports Odoo as a Self MCP Server<\/strong>, allowing AI clients to connect directly to Odoo through its MCP endpoint. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It can also connect Odoo to an externally deployed MCP Server<\/strong>, giving users flexibility to use the server that best suits their requirements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The integration supports OAuth-based authentication, User API Keys, model access control, and CRUD permissions<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It also provides request monitoring<\/strong> to help manage MCP access while maintaining Odoo’s security controls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It also provides health and documentation endpoints<\/strong> that allow users and external systems to check the MCP server status and access API information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Installation<\/h2>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

    1. Once you purchase the App from Webkul store, you will receive a link to download module’s zip<\/strong> file<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    2. Extract the file on your system after download finishes. As a result, you will be able to see a folder named- \u2018odoo_mcp_server\u2019<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
    3. Copy and paste this folder inside your Odoo Add-Ons path<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    4. Now, open Odoo App and click on the Settings menu. Here, click on Activate Developer Mode<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    5. Then, open Apps menu and click on \u2018Update Modules List<\/strong>.\u2019<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    6. In the search bar, remove all the filters and search \u2018\u2018odoo_mcp_server\u2019<\/strong>\u2019<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    7. You will be able to see module in the search results. Click on \u2018Install<\/strong>\u2019 to install it.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

      Note:<\/strong>\u00a0An optional\u00a0External MCP Server Deployment<\/strong>, provided by us, is also available if you prefer to host the MCP Server externally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Workflow<\/h2>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

      The Odoo MCP Server Integration<\/strong> workflow covers server configuration, secure authentication, access control, AI client connections, and request monitoring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      \n

      1. Self MCP Server Configuration<\/strong><\/h3>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

      Go to MCP Server \u2192 MCP Server Configuration<\/strong> and click New<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Enter the configuration name and select Use Odoo as Self MCP Server<\/strong>. Odoo automatically generates the MCP Server URL<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Under Security Settings<\/strong>, configure Max Requests\/Minute<\/strong> and Request Timeout (seconds)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Save the configuration and click Test Connection<\/strong> to verify that the MCP endpoint is reachable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      2. Model Access Control<\/strong><\/h3>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

      Open the configured Self MCP Server and go to Model Access<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Add the required Odoo model and configure the operations that MCP users can perform.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      You can restrict Read, Create, Update,<\/strong> or Delete<\/strong> access for the selected model. These restrictions work in addition to the authenticated user’s existing Odoo permissions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      MCP restrictions do not grant permissions to users who do not already have the required Odoo access rights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      3. Global MCP Security and Log Retention<\/strong><\/h3>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

      Go to Settings \u2192 Model Context Protocol<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Under Global MCP Security<\/strong>, configure the global restrictions for Read, Create, Update,<\/strong> and Delete<\/strong> operations as required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Under the log management settings, configure Log Retention Days<\/strong> and enable the automated deletion cron when older MCP logs should be removed automatically.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      4. Instant OAuth Connection<\/strong><\/h3>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

      Return to the Self MCP Server<\/strong> configuration and click Instant Connect<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Select the required supported AI client, such as ChatGPT, Claude,<\/strong> or Gemini<\/strong>, to start the guided OAuth connection.

      5. Claude Connector Setup<\/strong><\/h3>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

      In the selected AI client, open the option to add a custom connector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Enter the Odoo MCP connector details and provide the MCP Server URL<\/strong> generated in Odoo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Continue with the connector setup to proceed with authentication.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      6. OAuth Authentication and Authorization<\/strong><\/h3>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

      Select OAuth<\/strong> as the authentication method and continue with the authorization flow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Sign in to Odoo when prompted and review the requested access.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Click Authorize Access<\/strong> to complete the connection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      The MCP session operates using the Odoo access context of the user who completes the authorization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      7. Verify OAuth Client<\/strong><\/h3>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

      After completing the OAuth authorization, open OAuth Clients<\/strong> in Odoo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Review the registered client and open its record to view the client configuration, including the registered client details and authorized users.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      8. User API Key Authentication<\/strong><\/h3>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

      For MCP clients that require manual configuration, open User API Keys<\/strong> and click Generate New API Key<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Select the Odoo user whose access should be used and generate the API key.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Use the generated key with the MCP Server URL in the supported client through Bearer Token<\/strong> authentication.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      The MCP client operates according to the permissions of the Odoo user associated with the API key.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      9. Query Odoo Data<\/strong><\/h3>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

      Once the AI client is connected, enable the Odoo MCP connector<\/strong> and start a conversation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Ask the AI client about Odoo data that the authenticated user is permitted to access.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      For example, you can ask which customers generated the highest revenue and which products they frequently purchase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      The response is generated using the accessible Odoo data and the permissions configured for the authenticated user.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      10. Use Odoo as an MCP Client<\/strong><\/h3>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

      External MCP Server Configuration<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

      Create a new MCP configuration and select Use External MCP Server<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Enter the required MCP External Server URL<\/strong> and authentication details for the external MCP Server.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      LLM Configuration<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

      Under Odoo As MCP Client<\/strong>, enable Enable to Use Odoo As MCP Client<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Select the required LLM Provider<\/strong> and LLM Model<\/strong>, then enter the provider API key.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Save the configuration and test the connection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Open the Odoo MCP Chatbot<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

      Click Open Chatbot<\/strong> and use the configured chatbot from Odoo Discuss<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      The chatbot can use the configured external MCP Server and its available capabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      11. Statistics and Request Monitoring<\/strong><\/h3>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

      Open the available MCP analytics views to review MCP activity, usage, and request trends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Analytics Dashboard<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

      Open the MCP Server \u2192 Dashboard<\/strong> to view the Analytics Dashboard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      The dashboard provides an overview of MCP server activity, including Total Requests, Successful Requests, Failed Requests, Average Response Time, Active Clients, and Active Users<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Use the available filters to review activity by date range, client, user, or model<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      The dashboard also provides insights into MCP Request Activity, Top Users, Requests by Client, Most Used Tools, Most Accessed Models, and Recent Errors<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      The endpoint provides server health and operational information, allowing users or external monitoring systems to verify whether the MCP Server is active and functioning properly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      The health information includes details such as database connection, MCP configuration, registered tools, response time, MCP protocol status, authentication status, server version, and uptime<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
