We can understand this with an example like:<\/p>\n<p>First we create one Parent product with name <strong>Parent<\/strong> and its two child products <strong>Child1<\/strong> and <strong>Child2<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Now we set some basic attributes of them:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>Parent =&gt;<\/strong> Price = $100, Manufacturer = &#8216;xyz&#8217;.<br \/>\n<strong>Child1 =&gt;<\/strong> Price = <em>not set<\/em>, Manufacturer = <em>not set<\/em><br \/>\n<strong>Child2 =&gt;<\/strong> Price = $250, Manufacturer = &#8216;abc&#8217;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The buyer will finally get to see<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>Child1 =&gt;<\/strong> Price = $100, Manufacturer = &#8216;xyz&#8217;, taken from its parent.<br \/>\n<strong>Child2 =&gt;<\/strong> Price = $250, Manufacturer = &#8216;abc&#8217;.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><u><strong>Use of functions and return data:<\/strong><\/u><\/p>\n<p>To use the listed function we must have included vmconfig.php and initialized its loadConfig() method, as<\/p>\n<pre class=\"brush:php\">require(JPATH_ADMINISTRATOR.'\/components\/com_virtuemart\/helpers\/config.php');\r\nVmConfig::loadConfig();\r\n<\/pre>\n<p>then call respective methods after taking instance of <em>product model<\/em> as<\/p>\n<pre class=\"brush:php\">$productModel = VmModel::getModel('Product');<\/pre>\n<p>now you can simple call any of the method as<\/p>\n<pre class=\"brush:php\">$product = $productModel-&gt;getProduct ('$virtuemart_product_id');\r\n$productSingle = $productModel-&gt;getProductSingle ('$virtuemart_product_id');\r\n<\/pre>\n<blockquote><p><code>getproduct()<\/code> will return data with attributes of parent product, while<br \/>\n<code>getproductSingle()<\/code> will not only return data for a single product but it contains the attribute of the same product regardless of it being a child or a parent.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>So, from the above cases<\/p>\n<p>for <strong>Child1:<\/strong> <code>getProductSingle()<\/code>, returns Manufacturer = &#8221;, on the same hand <code>getProduct()<\/code>, returns Manufacturer = &#8216;xyz&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>for <strong>Child2:<\/strong> both <code>getProductSingle()<\/code> and <code>getProduct()<\/code> returns Manufacturer = &#8216;abc&#8217; as it is directly set onto that product.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>There are other differences in return parameters of both of these functions, as you get <strong>basePrice<\/strong> and <strong>salesPrice<\/strong> using <code>getProduct()<\/code> but have to evaluate final price if you use <code>getProductSingle()<\/code><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>For any query regarding virtuemart plugins and add-ons you can communicate with us by creating a ticket at:<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/webkul.uvdesk.com\/en\/customer\/create-ticket\/\">https:\/\/webkul.uvdesk.com\/en\/customer\/create-ticket\/<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We know in Virtuemart we can make child product leaving some of its parameters that will be taken from parent product.
