      The zip option generates a zip file along with filestore, dump.sql, and manifest.json.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      The dump.sql<\/strong> file mainly contains all the data (Postgresql backup)<\/strong>. It has all the static files stored on disks, such as images or attachments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      However, the Odoo version, list of modules, database name, Postgresql version, and many more can be located in the manifest.json file.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Installation Process of Odoo Database Backup<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

      1. Once you purchase the App from the Webkul store, you will receive the link to download the zip file of the module.
        <\/li>\n\n\n\n
      2. Extract the file on your system after the download finishes. You will be able to see a folder named- \u2018wk_backup_restore.\u2019
        <\/li>\n\n\n\n
      3. Copy and paste this folder inside your Odoo Add-Ons path.
        <\/li>\n\n\n\n
      4. Install a linux package named \u201ccron\u201d using the command \u201capt install cron\u201d on the server first.
        <\/li>\n\n\n\n
      5.  After that, install the Python library \u201cpython-crontab\u201d using the command \u201cpip3 install python-crontab\u201d.
        <\/li>\n\n\n\n
      6. For odoo version 16 and above, Create a new key named \u201cmaster_passwd\u201d in your odoo-server.conf file with the value having the \u201cadmin password\u201d of your database.
        <\/li>\n\n\n\n
      7. Create a log file for \u201cbackup_cron\u201d on path \u201c\/var\/log\/odoo\/\u201d with name \u201cbackup_cron.log\u201d. And, change ownership of the file to the odoo user.

      8. Restart the odoo-server and now install the \u201cOdoo Database Backup\u201d module.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

        How to Restore a Database in Odoo<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

        Before moving to the Data Restore part, let\u2019s know how you create an Odoo database backup. And what will be the requirements to create an Odoo Data backup?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        For creating a database backup, you need an aggregator such as Odoo Database Backup<\/a> that is free to use. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

        All you have to do is, deploy it on your Odoo.sh or download and install it in your Odoo instance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        IMPORTANT NOTE:<\/em><\/strong> <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

        The Odoo Database Backup module only allows you to create the process for backing up your Odoo data. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

        For restoring a backup, you need to follow the step mentioned in the <\/em>\u2018Process of Restoring Data,\u2019<\/em><\/strong> which is a <\/em>manual process and not part of the module<\/em><\/strong>. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

        Process of Creating a Database Backup<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

        1. Log in to your Odoo instance and go to \u2018Backup Operations> Backup Process,\u2019<\/strong> under it, click \u2018Create.\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

        2. On the page, define the following options:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        Frequency cycle-<\/strong> Here, define how often you want to back up your database.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        Backup Starting Time-<\/strong> Select the data from which you want the database to be backed up. On selecting the data, it will automatically pick the current time.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

        Storage Path- <\/strong>In this, specify the storage path where you want your database backup to be saved. This path should be valid, or else the backup will be lost. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

        Database Name-<\/strong> The data will be backed up in .zip format, so keep the name simple, so you can easily remember it. For instance, wk_backup_restore. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

        Backup Location-<\/strong> This will be a predefined field with set criteria as a \u2018Local\u2019<\/strong> if you have downloaded or deployed it on Odoo.sh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        Backup Format- <\/strong>Select the backup format from the options in which format you want to save your data backup on the server. The available options are zip\/pg_dump<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        Drop Old Backups \u2013 <\/strong>Check this field if you want to delete old backups after the retention of some specific count of recent backups on the server.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        Backup retention Count \u2013 <\/strong>This is the count of recent backups that you wish to retain after dropping old backups on the server.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        Master Password-<\/strong> Enter your Odoo master password in this field or you won\u2019t be able to restore your backup. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

        The master password is a must, without it, you will not be able to restore your database. (Only for odoo version 15 and below)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        Once done, click the \u2018Save\u2019<\/strong> button.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        3. After creating the backup process, click the \u2018Confirm\u2019<\/strong> button to start the Odoo data backup process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        4. You can also cancel the backup process by clicking on the \u2018Cancel \u2019 <\/strong>button even after confirming the backup process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        5.  If you want to stop a backup process, after the backup process is running, the \u2018Cancel Process\u2019 <\/strong>button will let you do so.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        6. The Backup details section will show all the backup records. Download it for further use. Also, you can record every backup log entry in the \u2018Backup Details\u2019 <\/strong>section.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        Process of Restoring Database<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

        7. To restore the database, open the \u2018Database Manager\u2019<\/strong> (URL+ web\/database\/manager). After that, select the \u2018Restore Database\u2019<\/strong> option. For example, https:\/\/www.webkul.com\/web\/database\/manager.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        7. In the popup, enter the \u2018Master Password,\u2019<\/strong> then enter the database name you have entered while creating the backup process. Choose the file from the selected path while creating a backup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        Choose from the available options:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        1. This database is a Copy-<\/strong> Select this option if you want to restore a copy of the existing database.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        2. This Database was Moved-<\/strong> Choose this option if the original database is moved or deleted and you want to restore the backup from scratch.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
