Magento : PHP extension “mcrypt” must be loaded<\/strong><\/p>\n

The above message tells us that your PHP do not have \u201cmcrypt\u201d compiled with it. You have to get your web host to re-compile PHP with \u201cmcrypt\u201d. A few PHP extensions are needed in order to run magento properly.<\/p>\n

Easy fix, despite the official line from PHP<\/a> which says you need to recompile PHP \u2013with-mcrypt.<\/p>\n

\n

I\u2019ll caveat this by stating I\u2019m using Fedora Core 7\u2026<\/p>\n

1) At the terminal, su root \u2013 you are now going to yum, not .\/configure, make, and make install\u2026<\/p>\n

2) yum install mcrypt \u2013 this will get you libmcrypt, mhash, and mcrypt<\/p>\n

3) yum install php-mcrypt \u2013 this will get you the functionality within PHP<\/p>\n

Uh\u2026done (without hassles).<\/p>\n
