What is a custom field?<\/h3><\/div>

The Custom field allows a user to provide additional information. Like in Multi-Vendor Marketplace<\/a> app, you can create custom fields for products, orders as well as sellers.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Using these fields, you can ask your sellers to provide their extra information during signing up on your store. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can display this information on the frontend, i.e., the seller profile page. Similarly, you can create these fields for the product form. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

While adding products to the store, sellers provide the additional information, and the system displays it on the product description page for customers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There is one more option to add custom fields to the orders. Go through the documentation to know more!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Custom Fields for Seller <\/h3><\/div>

These are the by-default Seller Signup page fields: Seller Name, Email, Password & Confirm Password.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Now, if the admin wants to add extra fields on this page, he can do so by creating custom fields from his MultiVendor Admin Panel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let’s jump into the process of adding these fields.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Go to MultiVendor Marketplace Admin Panel<\/strong> > Configuration<\/strong> > Custom<\/strong> Fields<\/strong> > +Add Custom Fields<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The system will redirect you to the following page:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

FIELD FOR: Select SELLER<\/p>\n\n\n\n

FIELD NAME: Name of the custom field that you want to add<\/p>\n\n\n\n

INPUT TYPE: You can choose the type of input for the added custom field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

REQUIRED: Choose whether you want to make the custom field mandatory or not.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SHOW ON YOUR SHOP: Choose whether you want to show the custom field on your storefront or not.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SEQUENCE: Enter the position of the custom field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Types of custom fields that can be added:<\/h3><\/div>

TEXT<\/strong><\/h3><\/div>
\n

Admin can use this to add additional details like the seller’s phone number, city, zip code, and more.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

The system displays the TEXT input type on the frontend like this:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Because I have marked this field to be mandatory from the backend, there is an asterisk mark on this field. Making it mandatory for sellers to provide this information for creating the account.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

TEXT AREA<\/h3><\/div>

Admin can use this to create custom fields for details like the seller\u2019s address or their previous experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This input type provides a larger text column to fill up lengthy information.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Frontend:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

FILE<\/h3><\/div>

This input type is used to fetch information like seller’s GST documents, policy documents, profile image or any like of document that you want. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Make sure that the maximum file size which can be upload shouldn’t exceed 3MB. <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

DROPDOWN<\/h3><\/div>
\n

This input field is used to create custom fields for entries like DOB, Gender, Country or State.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

So, when the admin selects ‘Dropdown’ as the input field, he will get options to add the dropdown menus.
Note: As per the current flow the app can accommodate a maximum of 250 dropdown options.

Note: On editing the Custom Field, the admin will not be able to change the type of Custom Field.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Number<\/h3>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

This input type can be used when the seller needs to enter numeric values. It now also supports decimal (real number)<\/strong> format, which allows the seller to provide more precise inputs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For example, a seller can now enter their expected delivery time in days<\/strong> in decimal format, like 1.5<\/code> days (which means 1 day and 12 hours) or 2.75<\/code> days (2 days and 18 hours). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The number input field will appear with the ability to accept both whole numbers and decimal values.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
