What<\/span>\u00a0is Burp Suite ?<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n

Burp suite is a graphical tool for testing web application security and developed in <\/span>Java <\/b><\/span>by <\/span>PortSwigger Web Security<\/b><\/span>. It <\/span>is an integerated platform for performing security testing of web application. It helps you to identify the vulnerabilities and verify attack vectors that are affecting web applications.<\/span><\/p>\n

Note: <\/strong>Java must be installed in system to run the burp suit tool. To check the java version through the command prompt, run the command i.e\u00a0java -version\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Step 1:<\/strong> Follow the link \u201chttps:\/\/portswigger.net\/burp\/communitydownload<\/a>\u201d <\/i>to download the Jar file for Burp Suite as shown in below image.<\/p>\n

Once download the setup do not extract the jar file, <\/span>but<\/span> setup <\/span>file <\/span>name <\/span>can be renamed<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Step 2:<\/strong> How to start the Burp Suite<\/p>\n

(i) Open the command prompt.<\/span><\/p>\n

(ii) Navigate to the path where jar file is saved.<\/span><\/p>\n

(iii)<\/span> Run the command <\/span>: <\/i><\/span>$java -jar <\/b><\/i><\/span>filename<\/b><\/i><\/span>.jar <\/b><\/i><\/span>Example: $java -jar burpsuite.jar.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Step 3:<\/strong> Select the temporary project <\/b>and click on the Next<\/strong> button to proceed the setup.\"\"<\/p>\n

Step 4:<\/strong> Click On next \u201cStart Burp\u201d<\/strong> button and it will open the suite dashboard.\"\"<\/p>\n

Step 5:<\/strong> How to download the Certificate & configure the proxy for Firefox browser:<\/p>\n

(i) Click on the Proxy<\/b> tab then sub menu will be open.<\/p>\n

(ii) Click on the Options <\/b>tab.<\/p>\n

(iii) Click on the \u201cImport\/Export <\/b>CA C<\/b>ertificate<\/b>\u201d<\/i> button to download the certificate.<\/p>\n

(iv) Select \u201cCertificate in DER Format\u201d <\/strong>and click on next button.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

(v) Save the certificate with .cer <\/b>extension only.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Step 6:<\/strong> Open the Mozilla Firefox browser settings and select preferences.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Step 7:<\/strong> In General, click on \u201c<\/b>S<\/b>ettings<\/b>\u201d<\/b> button under sub heading \u201cNetwork Proxy\u201d.<\/b>\"\"<\/p>\n

Step 8:\u00a0<\/strong>Setup the Proxy in browser<\/p>\n

(i) Select the radio button of manual proxy configuration.<\/p>\n

(ii) HTTP Proxy : enter local IP address and port as mentioned in below image.<\/p>\n

(iii) click on the checkbox i.e \u201cUse this proxy server for all protocols\u201d<\/b> <\/i>to implement the above proxy.<\/p>\n

(iv) Click on OK <\/b>button.<\/p>\n

Step 9:<\/strong> Upload the burp suite CA certificate in browser:<\/p>\n

(i) Go To Privacy and Security Menu<\/p>\n

(ii) Under Certificates click on \u201c<\/b>View certificates\u201d<\/b> button.<\/p>\n

(iii) Open the Authorities <\/b>Tab<\/p>\n

(iv) Click on the import<\/b> button to upload certificate.<\/p>\n

(v) After browsing the .cer <\/b>certificate file then select the checkbox i.e Trust CA to identify websites<\/b> and click on\u00a0 OK<\/b> button<\/p>\n

(vi) Check the uploaded certificate under the Authorities Tab <\/b>and click on OK<\/b> button to finish the installation.<\/p>\n
