Reordering Rules in Odoo

Odoo as a single solution for all your business related problems; so, here it has Odoo reordering rules which will make sure that your catalogs will never go out of stock.
What are Reordering Rules in Odoo?
Basically, Odoo reordering rules are the structure of a set of rules which helps the user to set some rules to make their warehouse with the fulfilment of stocked products.
How to configure reordering rules?
There has two ways to set reordering rules for products,
- From Inventory
To prepare or view list of all Odoo reordering rules go through the inventory tab and follow the below path,
“Inventory → Master Data → Reordering Rules”
- From Product
If you want to create or view list of all Odoo reordering rules for any specific products then you can go through below path,
“Sales → Products → Products”
Properties of reordering rules
Product
Select Product for which you want to create reordering rule
Minimum Quantity
Minimum quantity is basically the minimum threshold on which reordering rules will be triggered. It means when any catalog stock will go below the minimum quantity then reordering rules will be triggered.
Maximum Quantity
Maximum Quantity is basically the maximum threshold on which reordering rules will be triggered.
Which means reordering rules will make catalog stock to maximum or more than maximum quantity (depends on quantity multiple).
Quantity Multiple
Quantity multiple refers to the quantity which is the multiple of procured quantity.
Basically it generates the procurement order multiple of quantity multiple.
Lead Time
It helps to prepare the scheduled delivery date of the product.
How to set up reordering rules in Odoo?
NOTE: You can set reordering rules for stockable products only !
Once you will go through the above-mentioned path then you can simply open the reordering rules form.
- First, select the product for which you want to create a reordering rule.
- After that, set the “Minimum quantity” for the reordering rule.
- Set the “Maximum Quantity” on which you maintain your stock.
- You can set “Quantity Multiple” if you want else you can leave it 0 or 1.
- Then, you can lead time as per your requirement.
In the above example when stock of this product will go less than given “Minimum Quantity(2)” then reordering rule will be triggered and maintain stock equal or greater than “Maximum Quantity(12)”
Run Odoo Reordering Rules
There have two ways to run reordering rules:
Manual
To run Odoo reordering rules you can go through below path,
“Inventory → Operations → Run Scheduler”
Click on the “Run Scheduler” button.
Automated Scheduled Action
By default Odoo provides automated scheduled action for “Reordering Rules” or any “Procurement Operations” which will run as per the schedule,
Configure Scheduled Action
To configure scheduled action first you need to enable the developer mode. Then go through the below path,
“Settings → Technical → Automation → Scheduled Actions”
Then select the “Procurement: run scheduler” scheduler and configure it as per your need.
Points to be remember
- Reordering rules will be applicable for stockable products only.
- Make sure proper routes are configured inside the product.
- Like for Manufacturing orders “Manufacture” and BOM.
- For purchase orders “Buy” and vendor should be configured.
If any of the things are missing in your configuration then you can face “No procurement rule found. Please verify the configuration of your routes” error.
