Success Story : Magento Openerp connector
We launched Magento Openerp Connector around March 2013. In beginning . We were quite skeptical about it success because many free Magento Openerp connector available at that time, but we knew free connectors are not very easy to install / configure / use .
Why we decide to build Magento Openerp Connector ?
Till March 2013 , webkul was very much equipped in both magento and openerp . Many of our clients start asking for better Magento openerp connector . we recommended them free available connectors but they came back to us with many existing problems in free integrator . moreover none of them was working correctly in Openerp 7.
Architecture Design : By carefully observing the need of customers and why they are not satisfy with free connectors . we took following decision :
1: All customer’s trigger process must be in real time (not by cron / scheduler or manual button ) like customer registration , Customer’s order at Magento .
2. Inventory sync : Inventory must be sync in real time . As many customer also run physical shop with ecomm shop . It is very much painful to maintain actual stock quantity at site . That’s why we categories all that process which effect stock (like Purchase order, POS order , incoming shipment , delivery order ) and make them sync in real time at magento .
3. Manual Sync /cron sync for less frequent admin trigger process like adding new product etc .
As we were technically sound in Magento and openerp . For making real time sync we didn’t use any hardcode approach . we used magento observer pattern for getting trigger of order , registration at magento end .
After launch , Soon we got attraction of many ecommerce merchant . they really liked us our product .They wrote very good reviews at many portal . Good reviews by customers help getting new customers .
Success of Magento openerp Connector inspire us to make connectors for other platforms too . Result : Prestashop Openerp connector, Virtuemart Openerp Connector, Opencart openerp connector and shopify openerp connector.
Today : we have served more than 400 connectors (including all platform ) . This help us to increase our exposure of openerp . we have seen more than 400 openerp installation . we got to know much about customer need /expectation with erp system . Almost we have seen chart of accounts of all country .
Many of the connector clients hired us for openerp installation /training /customization service . Even for few of them we are giving openerp hosting service too.
Depending on client need we build multiple advanced addon for our Openerp connectors like multishop , multi-instance , multi-language , Multi- variant etc.
Today we can safely say that our decision of making a new paid connectors ( irrespective of multiple free option available ) completely from scratch , was awesome , because it helps us into multiple ways (revenue , cross selling , experience ,branding etc) .
