Krayin CRM PHP Security Update: What to Do Now

Here is an urgent advisory regarding the Krayin CRM PHP security update released in October 2026. On October 21, 2026, the PHP core security team issued emergency out-of-band updates addressing two critical vulnerabilities rated 9.2 on the CVSS v4.0 scale: CVE-2026-109618 and CVE-2026-109619.

Both vulnerabilities allow unauthenticated Remote Code Execution (RCE). Because Krayin CRM is an open-source, enterprise CRM built on top of Laravel and powered by the PHP runtime, every self-hosted Krayin CRM instance running on an unpatched PHP version is directly vulnerable.

Why This Krayin CRM PHP Security Update is Critical

Following an advance notice on October 20, the PHP development team shipped security patch releases for all actively maintained branches on October 21 (PHP 8.5.12, 8.4.27, 8.3.36, and 8.2.35). These patches resolve two deep-seated memory corruption bugs inside the Zend Engine request lifecycle:

CVE Identifier	Root Cause & Technical Mechanism	Severity & Impact
CVE-2026-109618	Out-Of-Memory (OOM) Heap Corruption: An out-of-memory condition triggered during early request initialization leaves internal request data half-initialized. When the engine executes cleanup routines, heap pointers corrupt, allowing arbitrary code execution.	CVSS 9.2 (Critical) Unauthenticated RCE
CVE-2026-109619	Cross-Request Memory State Reuse: Memory allocated by a worker process is freed incompletely after request termination. A subsequent HTTP request handled by the same worker reuses dangling memory pointers, enabling memory overwrite and code execution.	CVSS 9.2 (Critical) Unauthenticated RCE

Why Application-Level Security Cannot Stop This Attack

“Unauthenticated Remote Code Execution” is the most critical vulnerability category. An attacker does not need to log into Krayin CRM, possess an API token, or understand your CRM database structure.

In standard configurations—particularly Apache running with mod_php, where working exploits have already been verified—the exploit triggers inside the PHP runtime during the SAPI request ingestion phase. This happens before Laravel’s routing engine, CSRF filters, or Krayin authentication middleware ever execute. No application-level setting or firewall rule within Krayin CRM can shield your server; the fix must be applied at the host PHP runtime level.

The Laravel team published an emergency bulletin detailing immediate patch deployments across Laravel Cloud, Forge, Vapor, and Envoyer, confirming that the entire PHP ecosystem is affected.

Is Your Krayin CRM Installation Affected?

Yes, if you self-host Krayin CRM on an unpatched PHP version. The advisory affects virtually every web-facing PHP execution model:

• Apache with mod_php: Extreme Risk. A working public exploit has already been demonstrated.
• PHP-FPM (behind Nginx or Apache): High Risk. Standard production architecture for Krayin CRM; worker pool memory can be compromised via crafted HTTP requests.
• FrankenPHP, php-cgi, and LiteSpeed: High Risk. All persistent PHP worker models are vulnerable to cross-request memory corruption.

Patched PHP Versions & Krayin CRM Compatibility Matrix

PHP Branch	Patched Version	Krayin CRM Compatibility & Status
PHP 8.4	8.4.27	Fully supported on current Krayin CRM 2.x releases.

Applying the Krayin CRM PHP Security Update Step-by-Step

Upgrading PHP completely eliminates the vulnerability. No changes to Krayin CRM’s database or core code are necessary. Follow these four steps:

Step 1: Check Your Active PHP Version

Check both CLI and web server runtimes, as they frequently point to different PHP binaries:

# Check command-line PHP version
php -v

# Check active Apache module (if using Apache)
apachectl -M | grep php

# Check active PHP-FPM service status
systemctl list-units | grep php

You can also log into your Krayin CRM Admin Panel and verify the web-facing runtime under Settings > System Information.

Step 2: Upgrade PHP via Your OS Package Manager

Ubuntu / Debian (Ondřej Surý PPA or Distribution Repositories):

sudo apt update
sudo apt install --only-upgrade 'php8.3*'
sudo systemctl restart php8.3-fpm
sudo systemctl restart nginx # or: sudo systemctl restart apache2

RHEL / AlmaLinux / Rocky Linux (Remi or AppStream):

sudo dnf upgrade 'php*'
sudo systemctl restart php-fpm
sudo systemctl restart nginx # or: sudo systemctl restart httpd

Docker Environments:

Pull the latest base image layers and rebuild your Krayin container. Restarting an old container will not apply the patch:

docker compose pull
docker compose build --no-cache
docker compose up -d

Laravel Forge, cPanel & Plesk:

• Laravel Forge: Navigate to your server in Forge and click “Update PHP”. If your server is on Ubuntu 20.04 or older, provision a new Ubuntu 24.04/22.04 server and migrate your sites.
• cPanel / MultiPHP: Open WHM > EasyApache 4 or MultiPHP Manager, install the latest patch release, and assign your Krayin CRM domain to it.
• Plesk: Navigate to Tools & Settings > Updates > Update Components and install the latest PHP minor release.

Step 3: Restart Persistent PHP Daemons & Krayin Workers

Restarting your web server alone is not sufficient. Background queue workers and daemons retain unpatched shared libraries in memory until explicitly restarted:

cd /path/to/krayin-crm

# 1. Gracefully restart background queue workers
php artisan queue:restart

# 2. Clear compiled route, config, and view caches
php artisan optimize:clear

# 3. If running Supervisor, restart all workers
sudo supervisorctl restart all

Also confirm your scheduled cron jobs (php artisan schedule:run) are invoking the updated PHP binary.

Step 4: Verify the Installation

• Run php -v and confirm you are on 8.3.36, 8.4.27, 8.5.12, or 8.2.35.
• Log into Krayin CRM, verify that dashboards render properly, and test a contact creation, email sync, and CSV lead import.

Temporary Workarounds & Mitigations

Note: These configurations reduce attack exposure but do not replace upgrading PHP. Only the official patch resolves the underlying memory corruption flaws.

If you cannot update immediately, apply these settings in your system php.ini or PHP-FPM pool configuration (not via .user.ini or ini_set()), then restart PHP-FPM:

• Disable Session Upload Progress:
  session.upload_progress.enabled = 0
• Disable Fatal Error Backtraces (PHP 8.5 users):
  fatal_error_backtraces = 0
• Prevent Out-of-Memory Triggers:
Set php_admin_value[memory_limit] = -1 in your FPM pool to prevent mid-request OOM traps, combined with an OS-level cgroup or container hard limit.
• Enforce Strict Request Boundaries:
Limit incoming request sizes in Nginx (client_max_body_size 32M;) or Apache (LimitRequestBody 33554432).
• Network Isolation:
Temporarily restrict Krayin CRM access behind an office VPN or trusted IP whitelist until patching is complete.

Post-Patch Security & Integrity Audit

Because these flaws require zero authentication, administrators of public-facing Krayin installations should perform a brief security audit:

1. Scan for Rogue Web Shells: Check for unauthorized .php files in writable folders:

   find /path/to/krayin-crm/public/ -type f -name "*.php" ! -name "index.php"
find /path/to/krayin-crm/storage/ -type f -name "*.php"

2. Inspect Admin Users: Go to Settings > Users inside Krayin CRM and confirm that all admin accounts are recognized and authorized.
3. Check Application Logs: Search storage/logs/laravel.log and web access logs for segmentation fault (SIGSEGV) crashes or abnormal spikes in oversized POST requests between October 20 and 22.
4. Rotate Secrets: If anything suspicious is detected, immediately rotate your database password, mail credentials, APP_KEY, and API tokens.

Conclusion

Applying this Krayin CRM PHP security update protects your business from critical unauthenticated remote code execution vulnerabilities (CVE-2026-109618 and CVE-2026-109619). Because Krayin CRM powers customer data and business-critical lead pipelines, updating your host PHP runtime ensures complete system stability and protection.

The update takes only a few minutes to complete and requires no code changes or database migrations.
