A Bit of Home is a family-owned Canadian independent retailer specializing in Irish and British consumer goods. Our goal is to provide the best selection of products to expatriots as well as others who seek the quality and uniqueness from Ireland and Great Britain.

Since 2002, A Bit of Home has been the shop that expats and locals keep coming back to for quality imported Irish and British consumer products. Our wide selection, great service and competitive prices are the main reasons people keep coming back. We have over 2,000 items including the top-selling packaged food products. We also stock a range of jewellery, books, souvenirs, English football merchandise, pub accessories, and literally hundreds of great gift ideas. Another reason for our popularity is that we have a retail store just west of Toronto in Mississauga, Ontario as well as this website. This allows our customers to shop in the manner that is most convenient for them. And yes, what you see on this website is also stocked in our retail shop.

How did the Webkul POS module help out?

Using Webkul’s PrestaShop POS module the site owner can connect his online store with the retail store.

    More modules from Webkul:

“A bit of Home” uses some more Webkul marketplace extensions which enhance the user experience and functionality of their website.

    Product Label

    Bulk Order Delete

    News Ticker Block

Custom Solutions To Cater Client’s Demands

Though the POS module has Return/Refund functionality, however, still we wanted to have some changes in the default flow.
In addition, we wanted to have Exchange functionality too in POS so we wrote all our requirements to Webkul and they were able to deliver what we were expecting.

Generally, the cashier uses a barcode scanner to input most items. The scanner beeps every time the cashier scan an item. However, if there is not enough stock for an item, the cashier still can keep scanning and if he is not looking at the screen he do not notice the problem.

To overcome this problem, we wanted some sort of error sound if there is no stock for an item and if there is no item found for the bar code the cahier scanned. Webkul undertsood our needs and did this for us at very reasonable cost.

We made more customizations like these with Webkul and were happy with the results.

Purpose Behind using Prestashop Product Label

The reason behind using this extension customers are able to notice these products easily while searching progress and we can attract them towards any products by adding labels on product listing page and product detail page.
