Webkul Helped Motostion Boost Image Search Accuracy
Motostion S.L. is a Madrid-based online store selling motorcycle spare parts and accessories across Spain.
The company operates as an authorized recycling center, recovering usable parts from end-of-life motorcycles instead of scrapping them whole.
Every recovered part is tested and guaranteed before resale, giving buyers original-quality components at lower prices than new.
Motostion stocks parts for more than 40 motorcycle brands, including Yamaha, Honda, Suzuki, BMW, and Ducati, spanning used CAT parts, new spares, and maintenance items.
Beyond spare parts, the store also offers riding gear, tires, competition & workshop accessories, and it takes part in an EU-backed regional employment program.
With such a wide and fast-growing catalog, Motostion needed a smarter way to help customers find the right product.

Problems Faced by the Client
Motostion runs a large catalog of more than 200,000 products, each with multiple images, making manual searching difficult.
The default one-word keywords generated by the Image Search module often returned results that were too generic or unrelated.
Motostion also uses a third-party JoliSearch engine, and keyword mismatches broke compatibility with the image search results.
Large tag comparisons slowed searches, and naming inconsistencies, like “trasero” versus “trasera,” caused mismatched results.
Solution Provided by Webkul
Webkul recommended the PrestaShop Image Search module, allowing customers to upload an image to find matching products.
The camera icon was repositioned into the search bar, and search results were redirected to work correctly with Motostion’s JoliSearch engine.
Our team customized keyword generation to return three to four relevant words instead of one generic term. We also added a “Tag & Alias” preference so searches fall back to Motostion’s own product tags.
Webkul also built a back-office log for zero or low-result searches and optimized the search query for faster performance on a 200,000-plus product catalog.
Results
- Smarter keyword matching: Customers now get three-to-four-word keywords that match Motostion’s catalog more closely.
- JoliSearch compatibility: The Image Search module now works smoothly alongside Motostion’s third-party JoliSearch engine.
- Fallback tag search: Tag and alias fallback helps Motostion surface products listed under different names.
- Full search visibility: A back-office log now tracks zero-result searches, helping the team refine tags over time.
- Faster performance: Query optimizations reduced search delays despite the large product catalog.
Conclusion
Motostion enhanced its product discovery experience with Webkul’s PrestaShop Image Search module and custom PrestaShop Development Services.
By generating relevant, multi-word keywords and adding tag-based fallback search, the store now helps customers find the right spare part faster, even across a catalog of more than 200,000 motorcycle products.
